We didn’t have a wedding cake but we had a very very intimate dinner in a private room in a Michelin starred restaurant and they provided us with a selection of desserts and hand made truffles. We personally hated most cake designs we saw and just didn’t bother with one. Some I’ve seen look crazy. I think there should be a cake and dessert option though.

I’ve been to a lot of weddings with a dessert buffet and a big cake!

We had a brunch wedding so had a donut cake to cut into and mini-donuts for our guests. It was perfect for us.

I really dislike cake. Fiance isn’t keen on it either. I want to do a macaroon tower and Fiance wants cheesecake. I don’t think people expect cake as a foregone conclusion anymore.

We did not have cake, as my husband hates cake.  We did have a cake shaped brownie so we could have pictures of cutting it.  We also had cookies.  By the way, cutting a brownie with a cake knife is a lot harder… Made for some odd pictures but good laughs.

We did cupcakes too and it was the best because more flavors to cater to everyone. It was a lot less expensive too which was an added bonus.

We’re doing a dessert spread and one or two small cakes in interesting flavors. And I love cake, but we figured we’d put the money towards a spread that offers more variety. We both have huge sweet tooths, so having a bunch of little desserts to enjoy post wedding was very entcing to us lol!

I’d say about half the weddings I’ve been to had a dessert table instead of traditional cake. I’m going to do a dessert table at mine.

We used to not be cake people. Then we moved by a bakery that has cake that is to die for. So now we want a big traditional cake from them! If we didn’t discover that bakery, we probably we be doing an alternative!

socalgirl1689 :  well we did a pie buffet (: three reasons why: 1) pie is just plain better; 2) wedding cake is never very good 3) Darling Husband is celiac, and it’s much easier to do awesome gluten free pie than gluten free cake.

I’ve been to more lately with cupcakes, they seem to be the new cake. LOL.

The last wedding I went to had mini pies.

We are most likely ice cream.

No cake for us. We’re doing a dessert bar with several different options. Cake will be one of the options, but it won’t be a traditional wedding cake.

We’re doing a special napoleon from a local bakery. We’ve been getting this dessert from the bakery since we first started dating. We’re also having cookies and some other desserts.
