This is the bridesmaid dress, but will be in the violet color.

and this is my dress:

I think the bridesmaid dress is gorgeous, and it is labeled a bridesmaid dress, but is it too much? I am drawn to anything that has sparkle and is girly.
One of my bridesmaids made the comment that all the dresses with rhinestones and such look too much like prom. Which honestly I don’t see why it matters. So I am afraid other people may think negatively of the dress being too fancy for a bridesmaid dress.
If you agree it is too much do you know of any dresses similar to this style without any sparkle? I love the flowy tulle (or english net would be pretty) and I
prefer a high neckline or illusion so I don’t have cleavage in all of my pictures (some of my girls have big busts.)

What type of wedding are you having? Day or night? Formal or casual venue?

soontobemrstee : I think it looks elegant and isn’t over the top. This does not look like a prom dress. I was a matron of honor that literally wore a prom dress in a wedding (bride chose), and this does NOT come close! As long as it’s within your or your girls’ budgets (whoever’s paying) then I say go for it!

These are photos from the venue.

There is an outdoor pavillion for dancing and another building that can be used if it’s raining for the ceremony. We plan on using it for the photo booth/guest book area. I feel the venue can be casual as you want to be or more formal if you decorate the right way. And when I tried on wedding dresses I kept telling them the fancier dresses wouldn’t be appropriate right? And they all told me that there is no appropriateness for weddings anymore. People just wear what they want anymore even as far as colors go. And I agree I do see a lot of summer weddings with dark colors even black sometimes. So as far as that I don’t care. I like the idea of fancy dresses in the outdoors.
But I guess more of what I mean is does that dress compliment my dress or is it too over powering. I will have 6 girls wearing the same dress. My fiance is wearing a james bond type of tux and groomsmen will wear something similar.

I need that dress. For myself, and my bridesmaids. It’s so beautiful. It’s not too fancy. It isn’t a ballgown or anything, and I think the shape goes really nicely with your dress, totally compliments it. I don’t think people really need to stick to strict dress codes for bridal parties anymore. It’s not over the top, it’s pretty and elegant and only a little sparkly.
Totally go for it!

it actually cost less than most of the other dresses I looked at. It is 188.00 and they give a discount at the store since 6 girls are ordering, but not sure how much yet and depending on that I planned on paying about 30 bucks towards each girls dress sort of as a gift. So thats not an issue. They have said they really like it in the picture and I think it will be flattering for sure. No one will tell me if they really don’t like it so asking on here I can get constructive criticism hopefully.
My dress will have off shoulder sleeves added and possibly a bow on the back and I will wear a cathedral veil. Our so called “theme” (we arent really doing a theme) when people ask I say “a midsummer night’s dream.” Lots of hanging greens and lights and lanterns and fresh flowers.
lisdiane! I honestly wish I could order one for myself and thought about getting a reception dress incase I get uncomfortable, but I am waiting to get my dress in and see how I feel in it. If it is comfortable enough then there is no way I will take it off. I love my dress sooo much. I figure if I cant wear the dress at least my bridesmaids can!

I feel like the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress you chose really compliments your dress style. As long as they don’t object and it’s within budget I say it’s a great choice!
also – “bling” etc. does not always equal a prom-like look. It all depends on execution, and I really do think it’s a beautiful dress.

I love the bridesmaid dress and it suits your venue so I think you should stick with it! I dont see too much sparkle and it doesnt look prom-ish to me. Also im chesty and think it would be very flattering, I agree about not wanting too much cleavage in pictures.

They’re so pretty, and definitely go well with your dress. They match the level of formal-ness but don’t have the same elements so they don’t overshadow yours at all. Perfectly complemented!

I definitely don’t think they’re too much! In saying that, my girls were in floor length, full sequinned gowns soooo… 🤔 Keep them! You want your girls to look good!

I like the bridesmaid dress, and don’t think it looks to fancy. Do you know if it has bust support? It might be hard to wear a bra with it. It’s hard to find good strapless bras if you’re busty, so ask the bridesmaids if they think it will work.
