Love the Umbrellas and I personally dont really like “Personalized” items; knowing their mine or it was mean’t for me, is good enough! =)

I love the umbrella and pashmina ideas.
If it were me, the tote bag might as well be a gift bag to hold the other items and I would probably not use it on the weding day(too big for what I would need to carry) or after that(just not my style). I ike the idea of personalizing something, but I wouldn’t want my name on a bag that if I carried it, strangers would know who I was. And I’m more a purse or clutch kinda girl than a tote bag. So it might depend on your bridesmaids style.
What about a picture frame for everyone that they can put a picture of you and them in after the wedding? Or painted personalized wine glasses (like this: http://www.etsy.com/shop/samdesigns22 )? Or monogrammed compact mirrors they can use on the wedding day? Just some brainstorm thoughts… 🙂
I LOVE the umbrellas! (I have always owned colorful umbrellas… I just think it’s nice to have something cheery when it’s dreary out!) As for totes… I kind of have enough, but I think the pashminas would be a nice addition to help them stay warm.
Personally, I would not use any of them. I don’t like totes and don’t own one because of that. I would prefer a cardigan over a shawl. I dislike the way shawls fall off and don’t cover adequately. I prefer a sweater or a cardigan because it’s fitted and covers better. I also dislike the umbrella and would not use it. But, that’s why you need to consider your bridesmaids, not me. If they will use them and like them then don’t give my opinion an extra thought.
I think these are all lovely ideas! I gave my bridesmaids rainbow umbrellas (it POURED on our wedding day!) because…well…I live in Washington and it always rains here! It made for some really cute photo ops, too! I have to agree with not using YOUR monogram on the totes, but their initials would be nicer. And the pashminas sound cute, too!
Thanks everyone for all the advice. Yes, if the bags were monogrammed they would be in their individual initials, not mine! I wouldn’t carry a bag around with someone else’s initials so I imagine most others wouldn’t either. I agree with several of you that carrying a bag with your name on it is sort of odd. I think my Mom liked the idea because then the BMs wouldn’t get their bag mixed up with someone else’s (Mom thought they could put their stuff in it and then come to the hotel to get ready).
Out of all the gifts I’m least sold on the totes but my Mom is pretty set on them. I don’t have the heart to hurt her feelings about it since she has been so flexible and nice about everything. Maybe the thing to do is not personalize the bags (or at least give the BMs a choice). That way, if they want, they can give the bags to Goodwill at the end. Still, who knows? Maybe the BMs will love them. I know I should probably know each BM’s individual style by now but honestly, I only see three out of the five on a consistent basis so, for the other two I really have no idea.
