I am new to WeddingBee and am hoping you can provide some advice! I have had a lot of difficulty choosing a wedding dress due to liking similar styles to some of those worn by my good friends who have gotten married recently. The original dress I liked was similar to a style my cousin wore in her wedding and I know she would prefer if I didn’t get a style similar to hers. After a lot of looking, I have found another dress I really like that is nothing like my cousins. I have fallen in love with the Rivini Lismora. However, this dress is very similar to one that one of my best friends wore last year. She wore the Pronovias Galante. So now I am worried that these dresses are also too similar. She says she doesn’t care, that I should get whatever I love, but I just don’t know if it is in bad taste to wear a similar dress. I attached a picture of the two dresses and am hoping you can all give me your opinions. Are the dresses too similar? I am starting to feel so frustrated by this wedding dress shopping because every dress I like seems to be similar to someone else’s! Thanks for your help!
Rivini Lismora (the dress I like)
Pronovias Galante (the dress my friend wore)

IMO it looks pretty different. The bottom is fuller, the fabric is less shiny, the ruffles are pleated, there is no flower on the bodice, and its strapless. No one is going to remember/worry about what your friend wore on your wedding day anyways.
That being said, I prefer the one you like.

they are not even close, just the same shape. The first one is stunning.

That style is pretty “in” right now, so I wouldn’t worry: plus your friend has given you the OK.

Nope…I think you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks so much for your replies, bees! It is really great and helpful to get opinions from other brides! I am starting to feel a bit better already!

I really don’t think they look that similar at all. The necklines and skirts are very different, and the second has a flower and ruffle while the first does not. All dresses have similar elements, but are unique in their own way.
ETA: Then again, maybe I’ve just seen too many dresses, haha.

Thanks everyone. It is great to get opinions from people who are unbiased. My Mom and sister said the same thing, but I was worried they might be a little biased! I am starting to feel a lot better about this dress being different enough from my friend’s! I have a little more thinking to do, but maybe this is the one 🙂

No, the neckline is different and the ruffles are completely different. The colour is slightly different to.
Wear whatever dress you like – your friend had her dream dress, why can’t you?
