ashleyroo :  Rescue Remedy has been a huge help for our boy when he’s anxious during periods of stress. They make one especially for dogs now. It won’t drug them up, but naturally calms them down.

I don’t think a second dog is a good idea right now. Start working on her anxiety – a huge overhaul of her life (by take attention off her) will likely make it worse, before it makes it better.

Also, dog sitter for the win. PawShake is a great app for finding one (and it’s secure)

Good luck!

I would try Charlottes Web CBD oil, its magical. As for the PP’s saying not to get another dog, my anxious dog that has separation anxiety is 100% fine as long as she is with my other dog. They didn’t grow up together, they met as adult dogs. Could you maybe foster a dog and see how it goes? That way you could make sure that particular dog was the right fit for your family.

ashleyroo :  That’s why I recommended the Charlottes Web brand! I extensively research for that exact reason. I’m not going to be giving my pet some random CBD brand that started up just to cash in on the CBD craze.

Charlottes Web is the company that cured the first little girl Charlotte of seizures, hence the name. They are the reason the CBD industry exists today, are publicly traded and the most trusted brand in the industry. There is even a documentary about it. https://cannepoch.com/2018/03/08/why-everyone-should-watch-cnns-charlottes-web/ Here’s an article about it from 2013. https://www.cnn.com/2013/08/07/health/charlotte-child-medical-marijuana/index.html This is a company that was dedicated to healing people before they could make any money off of it. If you want the test report of your specific bottle you enter the number on the website and are given the results. https://www.charlottesweb.com/batch-reports. If they can research, formulate and quality test to give to a toddler and cure her seizures, I trust them with my dog.

I say get your dog a friend . They are pack animals and they do much better when they are among thier own kind . I recently got a puppy . My 8 year old Cane Corso was a little miffed at first , but now (  two weeks later  ) the two of them ar inseperable . He has made her get a new zest for life . I wish I hadn’t waited so long to get a second dog .

elodie2019 :  Totally agree with you . You need to get a cbd with no thc , the original Charlottes Web was 20- .05 …there are now a few pheno types of this strain , so you have to be careful . My old girl has Arthritus , I give her Isolate that is CBD only no THC whatesoever

viena :  Your dogs are precious!!!

So glad it is working for you! Yeah, the Charlotte’s Web company researched and formulated a CBD oil specifically for dogs! They have a joint and calm treat too which I use. It’s just made such a difference that I always share it with people.

One of mine has arthritis too and it’s really helped her. Her personality is back to her puppy self she plays again and runs around. I didn’t realize she had changed so much, I just figured she grew up and was getting old and typical grumpy older dog. I don’t know if she was depressed or in pain before or what but she is so much happier and runs to me when she sees the bottle and lets me drop it straight in her mouth. I had no idea it would help with this but the vet said she had developed spay incontinence, something about lack of any estrogen in her body and getting older and when I started her on the CBD she stopped leaking in her sleep, hasn’t leaked since.. 100+ lb leaking female dog..not fun.. but seriously a miracle it fixed it!

ashleyroo : Glad they will let you do a trial run with a dog. Mine took a few months to become besties and had to figure out who the alpha was but were never dog fight style agressive.

Getting another dog for that reason isn’t always a good idea.  Years ago when I was very inexperienced with dogs I got another dog to try and help calm my very nervous rescue.  It did not work.

i now have an almost 10 year old dog-aggressive dog with separation anxiety.  I board him at a place that allows dog aggressive dogs (they keep them in separate kennels and don’t allow group play time).  I hate leaving my dog but sometimes you have to, and he has gotten now to where he walks in willingly.  They are our babies and each dog is different, but (and this is from my years working in a dog daycare) they do adjust and adapt and the majority of dogs do just fine.  A lot of places now have cameras where you can see what’s going on.  My mom works at a vet and will send pics to the parents of the dog while they are away.  There are definitely places that will fit your needs!
