    @BriansBride:  I don’t think they’re necessary.  We included one so that people would know who each of the attendants are, and why they are special to us.  We also had two of my former students (with autism) as our flower children, and I wanted to explain who they were and why I love them to pieces, and how amazing it was that they were able to participate… and so that no one wondered why they may be acting a little different. So for us, programs were important. 🙂

    BUT, for a small wedding as you described, I’d say they are definitely not necessary! The only thing to consider, however, is how long your guests may wind up sitting at the ceremony spot waiting for the ceremony to start… our guest arrival was set for 30 minutes before our ceremony was supposed to start, but we started 15 minutes late (oops).  The programs were a hit, because people took that time to read them and chat about them (we included a lot of jokes, and made them informal and humerous!).

    @BriansBride:  I’m sure if you search  google, you could probably see the whole program. I use to have them but deleted them because we weren’t gonna do them than my fiance decided to do our own version and turned out good.

    @Mez03:

    I was JUST going to post that! I am doing this instead of programs as well. I think it will be much more fun, unique and people may actually read them!

    So I vote NO on programs!

    We didn’t do a program, there was nothing that needed explaining that wasn’t have been clearly stated during the ceremony itself. I was glad to save the time/money.

    The only time I think programs are helpful is if you will be performing traditions/rituals that many guests aren’t familiar with. Otherwise, it’s just a waste!
