I’m terrible, I poke, I snoop, it’s part of the fun for me. My family hates it, drives them nuts. I love trying to figure out what my presents are before Christmas – it’s part of the fun for me (although I hate it when I actually find things…) I got a package from my sister yesterday and I spent all night trying to figure out what the presents are without actually opening them, then on Christmas morning I get to see if I’m right.
Am I alone?

@MsGinkgo: I cannot be trusted. And then I ruin it for myself because I have no surprises on Christmas morning. Anyone’s best bet is to never let me know you have bought anything, ever.

I am so terrible at snooping. Probably why my FI hasn’t finished Christmas shopping yet.

@MsGinkgo: Nope, I totally snoop around. DH is usually bad about leaving out receipts, but this year he’s been surprising, and sadly, good about hiding them. I might have figured out one item his mom is giving me though… 😛

Yep. I hate being surprised! I’m always scared I’m going to open something in front of the person who gave it to me and I’m just going to make a “wtf” face at it.

My SO doesn’t trust me even a bit with my Christmas presents. He got them shipped to his parents’ house, then his mom brought them over while I was at work yesterday so they could wrap them. He then hid them in the corner, and told me not to look at them because I guess the wrapping paper is a bit see through. Of course that makes me want to look at them, but I’m refraining for the next week because my SO always knows if I’m not surprised by a present, and it upsets him so much.

I was horrible when I was a kid…. Now that I’m older I am better but I would be lying if I said I didn’t shake or inspect every box under the tree the first Christmas my husband and I spent together, hoping for a ring! (Got it the next year…lol)

@jadlnc: @MsGinkgo: I do the same thing. I even bug DH until he tells me and then get sad because its not a surprise anymore. He has gotten to the point he lies to me so I’ll stop bugging him. I’m a child but I get it from my dad who will peel back wrapping paper to try and figure it out.

@MsGinkgo: no, because I’m really good at guessing things haha. It’s so hard for me to just not look though. Thankfully we’re opening presents on the 22nd this year.

I’m not but FH is! He’s more excited for Christmas than I am!

Hell to the YES I AM! I’m a great gift giver but I totally suck as a receiver, especially if there’s sneekiness afoot.

@LittleButtons: I have bee known to completely unwrap and re-wrap gifts that don’t even belong to me just to see what my sister was getting…

@MsGinkgo: I’m the opposite, I would much prefer to keep my gifts a total surprise until I open them Christmas morning. I don’t even want any hints. Unfortunately my DH is the worst secret keeper ever! He usually doesn’t get me surprise gifts, he just has me pick out something I’ll like. I was so excited this year to see a big box under the tree that I had no idea about. 3 days later he had dropped so many (unsolicited) hints about it that I guessed what it was :/ Oh well, it’s a keurig and I’m still excited!

@MsGinkgo: I don’t do this, but my sister does. Even as an adult, she will literally unwrap stuff and wrap it back up hoping people won’t notice. I don’t get it! You’ll find out soon enough! I have to lock her presents away.
My husband doesn’t snoop and neither do I, so hiding presents for each other is easy. Our puppy is the biggest snooper out there but he isn’t bright enough to know what he’s found 😉 I do find it annoying when I make an effort to get a nice gift and the person snoops. I find it rude!

No not at all. The problem is that my DH cannot stand to wait to tell/give me my gifts. I have to tell him no so many times because he just wants to give me everything early. Last year he literally gave me every single gift before Christmas (like days and weeks before) because he just couldn’t wait. Its ridiculous.
He sort of did it again this year. I know most of my gifts because he told me, though I haven’t actually seen them yet. He always says, “this isn’t happening next year. I’m not going to tell you” but he just can’t help himself. All of his gifts from me are complete surprises to him 🙂
Its funny because my mother is the exact same way as my DH! She could never wait. She’d come in the room weeks before Xmas and say, “you want one of your gifts now?” So between the two of them (who are my biggest gift givers) I pretty much know/get everything early.
