Yes, I eavesdrop in restaurants. It can be really entertaining at times. There are some weird people in this world!

It is kinda hard not to listen to conversations sometimes, I try not to though but sometimes it just can’t be helped

My life is really not that exciting (go to work, go home, home on the weekends) so when Fiance and I go somewhere I’m CONSTANTLY people watching and listening to their convos. It’s terrible lol

    Yes, all the time.

I’m bad about it at work….the bosses office is right down the hallway and I always try to listen when it sounds important…I’m horrible.

I quit trying not to be nosy a long time ago, now I just embrace it. I don’t spread around information I overhear, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t enjoy listening in.

It’s not like we can shut our ears off, so if I hear something interesting, I’ll keep listening!

Omg yes! I am the nosiest, gossipy-est person I know. I have tried to stop this habit, but it’s just who I am. I’ve decided it’s the reporter inside of me.

I totally do, am really bad for it LOL. On the subway, sometimes I will have my headphones in, and then stop the music so I can listen in, all while looking like I still am listening to music. LOL.

@badabing88:  same — as long as you don’t spread it all around, there’s no harm in listening 🙂

My current office environment has totally broken me of the habit, though — I work at a labor union, and most of the folks that work in this office are the actual business agents. In other words, they are the truck drivers who rose up enough in the union to now work here full time. But they are still truck drivers at heart. So they are constantly shouting, cursing, screaming at each other to “shut the fuck up goddammit!” I had to learn to tune them all out or I’d never get anything done, haha. So since I tune them out so effectively, they could literally be having a conversation about me outside my door and I probably wouldn’t know it! I’M LOSING MY EDGE.

I don’t even notice that I am doing it most of the time, but I basically always do. I think my ears are just always open.

My Fiance thinks it is really rude that I do it, so we don’t discuss it. But he also is just an aloof person, so I just think he doesn’t even notice the conversations around him. If he did, he might be more like me.

If its loud enough for me to hear, then yes. I don’t strain to hear conversations though and I don’t shush my Fiance so I can hear people talking or anything like that lol
