We are from the same area and both families are in the area. While I’m sure we are lucky that we can see both families often, when it comes to holiday’s it means shuffling 3 families (my parents are divorced) and driving all over the place to make everyone happy. It’s exhausting

We’re both from the Chicago area and went to high schools that were a few towns over from one another. We live about an hour and a half from almost all of our immediate family. FI’s brother is the furthest, he moved to MN with his wife (her family is from there). We do see them fairly often though and try to take big family vacays. Our moms actually went to the same high school and are a lot alike, so that helps.

I’m from VA and DH is from Chicago.  We trade off Christmas and Thanksgiving each year.  I go to VA about 4 times a year, but he usually only comes with for the holidays.  Sometimes my mom comes for Easter, but i usually go home to VA 4 times a year.

Yep. I’ve lived in Kentucky my whole life. FI’s dad was in the military, so they moved around a lot. He was actually born in Germany, but they left there when he was still a baby. He’s lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, and moved to Kentucky when he was 9, I think.

We were born in the same city and grew up about an hour from each other, but he’s lived in Tennessee his entire life and I’ve lived in Tennessee, Vermont, Ohio, California, Germany and Ghana, so we have some social and cultural differences.
