I’ll be changing my name, because I really want the same last name as my Fiance and want our kids to have the same last name as both of us. I’m attached to my current last name though, so I’ll add it in as a second middle name.

I love my last name and get sad about losing it. I asked SO if he would be willing to create a new last name, but I guess he’s not as open minded as I am 😛 My name is quite long and somewhat difficult to pronounce, as well as being at the end of the alphabet, and his is quite short, early in the alphabet and easy to pronounce phonetically (although our last names are dutch (mine) and romanian (his), so they’re both quite uncommon). I think it will be nice to have the same last name in a romantic sense, and we’ll be young when we get married so it’s not like i’ll be known well professionally with my maiden name. The only thing that weirds me out is having the same referant as his mom… I love her, but it will be odd to be the newest Mrs. Hislastname!

I am not ever changing my last name. And hes ok with that. He loves my name. We have even discussed children. Our daughter will take my last name and our son will take his. 🙂

I like the history of my maiden name, but loooooveee my new last name. So my opinion is probably not very helpful, sorry, haha.
I once had a teacher who was Dutch and got married to a Dutch man. His name was something like VanSchwizewiuhskjdffhjk, or some approximation thereof. 😉 Hers was infinitely easier to spell and remember, so while she formally changed her last name to her husband’s name, she went by her maiden name at school. You can always do that.
