Take his last name, and ditch your maiden name

    Hyphenate your names

Make your maiden name a middle or second middle name

Make your middle name part of your first name and your maiden name will be the new middle name

    Keeping my name

    He's taking mine

I’m not an option on the poll… I’m taking his last name as my middle name afterwards. I’m fiercely attached to my last name, but I didn’t want to not have his name… so we thought this would be a good middle ground. I’ll be (Firstname Hislastname Mylastname)

My original plan was to keep my last name just because all my degrees and CPA license are under it.  I didn’t want to hyphenate because it would be too long.  He was on board with this.  But then I got to thinking – when we have kids – I would like to have the same last name as them and it makes us seem like more of a family if we all have the same name.  Plus if you don’t change it within 2 years of marriage in our state – it is a pain in the ass to do so – so I did it like 2 weeks after our honeymoon – got it all done in a week just to pull the bandaid off quickly – still not used to the new name and it has been 4 months 🙂

Talk about pain in the rear… I just spent 90 minutes at the DMV getting my new married name on my driver’s license. Not to mention changing it everywhere from loans and state/national licensing agencies, but how about my Nordstrom Card and my Ulta rewards?!

My last name is very confusing and irritating, so I look forward to getting rid of it someday!

BF has a nice, normal, easy to pronounce and easy to spell name.  Nothing weird about it.  I look forward to ditching the nightmare that is my parent’s name.

Taking his last name and ditching mine. I prefer his, definitely.
