torontobride28 :  Keeping my last name until we have kids.  Also three months before our wedding, I had to renew my passport, so I bought the 5-year one with my last name.  I also like my current name a lot, and I’m very much known on my magazine subscriptions, work, banking, etc… and a part of me sees it as my identity, so I’m conflicted in general lol!

As of right now, my plan is to change my middle name to my maiden name and take my fiance’s last name. We both had a lot of conversations about our options– hyphenating one, hyphenating both, him taking my last name, both of us taking a new last name, etc. My fiance was super open to all of those conversations, and respects whatever decision I make, and to me that makes such a huge difference; if I change my last name, it’ll truly be because I want to and I like the new names, not because I’m supposed to or because he wants me to.

torontobride28 :  Yes, 1) because I kept my married name when I got divorced 10 years ago and now want to drop it and 2) because the decision not to never entered my mind. I think I am still on the tail end of that generation that it is just what you do.
