daisyfay:  I loooove the NARS Audacious lipstick in Charlotte! Have you tried any other colors from the line? I’m also loving Raquel.

I never wear lipstick. I have worn makeup for YEARS, but the moment I put on lipstick, someone will make a mocking comment about it! I don’t get what it is. I can wear as much eye makeup as I want and nobody says a word, but the second I put something colored on my lips it’s a joke. It’s almost as if everyone around me who knows me looks at me like a little kid who just got into their mother’s makeup.

MissCoupon:  I’m super pale also and love Dior Addict “Scarlet Siren”. I have red hair, to boot, and it looks nice on me (or so I think…)

I love wearing red on my lips but I only wear it in the evenings. I hardly wear makeup during the day. I find what works best for me is a really good lipliner. My favorite is nyx’s deep red. When I put on my foundation, I also apply it all over my lips so i have a good base to work on. Then I draw my lips with the lip liner. I say draw vs. Trace because technically I draw a little outside of my upper lip since I have a thinner upper lip and I like to give the illusion that it’s bigger than it is. Then I fill in the rest of my lips with the red lip liner and I’ll add a little bit of red lipstick or lip gloss over. By filling my lips with a lip liner instead of just lipstick keeps the color lasting longer.  I wore red lips the other day and it lasted all through dinner. I was pretty impressed. 🙂

Also, some of you have asked how to prevent red from getting on your teeth. I actually learned a really cool tip from my friend who is a makeup junkie. You take your index finger and simply put it in your mouth as if you’re licking whip cream off of your fingers. The red on your inner lips will come off onto your fingers and not on your teeth.

like you, I prefer to keep my lips nude but once in a while I’ll put a shade of red on.

i do think it’s about finding a shade of red that works with your specific skin tone. I Found that deeper berries work better with my olive undertones. I have a girlfriend with beautiful pale skin who rocks a cool classic red channeling her inner Snow White.

    this is me:

I did not read all the comments to see if it’s been said but I use a very high pigment red leave it on really heavy for a few minutes then i blot off the waxy stuff so that what is left is my lips that are stained bright red then i either add a very thin layer on top or just use a stick gloss or clear Chapstick to add just a little natural moistness to them bc … Bold red lips with lots if gloss = no no the color is enough

I don’t have the tone for red. I have natural red pigment in my skin already so it tends to make my face look more pink than it it!

I only wear makeup when I’m dressing up. I usually go for a more pinky, mauvy kind of color, but I definitely wear bright red upon occasion. I recently went to a black tie event where I was supposed to wear feathers (it was at the zoo!) and the only feathers I have is a bright red small hat/big headband thing that I wore with a black gown. So I wore a bright red lipstick and cut back on my eye makeup. Turned out great! It is striking, but that’s kind of the point! I generally wear red lipstick when I’m wearing pretty neutral colors with a pop of red in my clothing (tights works especially well).

I wear it rarely. I have to be really feeling myself. But I have come to realize that a good liner makes a red lip all the better. I used to hate wearing Ruby Woo (bcus of how dry its is lol) but I loved the color and then once I put a liner on it, viola !! It turned out amazing. Ive seen people pull off red effortlessly but Im just not the girl lol.

MissCoupon:  I have pale skin and fairly ample lips, and red and vibrant pinks are often my favourite shades of lip colour to wear. Because I have a fair amount of pigment in my lips naturally, I tend to look ill when I wear nude colours, unless I’ve put on a lot of other products to counteract that. A bright lip can be much easier for me to pull off, as I can just wear mascara and powder with it, and call it good.

For example, this is the lip colour I wore to my office Christmas party last week.

I tend to go for more deep colours, but I love a bold lip! Fiance was working out of town for 3 weeks at a time for the last year so I didn’t have to worry about kissing him and getting it all over him so I rocked it!

I lovvvve it. I tend to go for My Lips but Better colors, but this summer I worked up to wearing hot pink lipstick and lip stains. Next step: red!
