I seem to be cursed. It seems as though things I love and I want to fill my home with are being discontinued left and right.
The other day I went to the furniture store to get the prices on the night stands to go along with the bed I purchased at the end of 2006. My collection was a standard collection that they’ve always carried. And guess what? They discontinued the line recently and so now I can’t get the nightstands to match my bedroom!
Today my mom went to purchase the cooking set that I was madly in love with and have been wanting to buy for the last year. She called me to verify which set it was. So I go online to check my registry to give her the exact number and guess what? Its no longer being carried. I went ahead and checked a few other things on registries, things that have been staple items at these stores, and more of my things are discontinued.
This really sucks! Has anyone else experienced this?

Emily, No you are not cursed. Unfortunately, many items become discontinued or out of stock. We have experienced this at Bed Bath and Beyond, Pottery, and Williams-Sonoma. You can try other places to see if they still carry what you’re looking for. Sometimes, items are still available in stores, but not online.
Fortunately, there are always different, but similar styles for many items (ie, linens, pots/pans, silverware, etc), however, major registry items such as placesettings can disappear because you receive the entire collection. Although you may not be able to match perfectly your bedroom furniture or your cooking sets, the upside is because there is such a wide variety, you can add something different which can complement what you already have.

I’ve always had the opposite problem! Whenever I was looking for something specific, like a plate with a berry design on it, or a particular color of towel, it would be nowhere to be found. Then once I’d registered for something second-best, and it was purchased, I’d find the PERFECT item! Too late!
