I came across this list of what is OUT trendwise for weddings in 2011.
Are you doing any of these OUT trends?
Personally, I will be doing cupcakes at my wedding because that’s my taste. Plus, most things in the wedding world don’t get to be seen by the real world that often.

I love Candy Bars. 🙂 I don’t care if they’re out, I think they’re fantastic!
I also like dresses with pickups. (Don’t have my dress yet, but it could have pickups, who knows).

We’re not doing any of those things! Does this mean I’m cool and trendy? lol

Im not doing any of them. But I think they are fine. Who is the tribunal that sits and decides all of this?

I guess the only thing I’m doing on there is matching everything? Honestly, as a graphic designer, I can’t imagine not having a color palette, theme/style and sticking to it. I just think it looks more cohesive. Anyway, damask has been way over done for like 5+ years, and people are still doing it on EVERYTHING. Do what you want at your wedding, and don’t worry about the trends. 🙂

Hear hear!! I just went to that site, and apparently “outdoor” weddings are in, but “rustic” ones aren’t? Please. That’s ridiculous.

Aw, that makes me sad that they’re OUT, but I’m doing a dessert bar (for all of my food!) and a rustic/vintage/elegant wedding!

I did a dessert bar and it was a huge hit! After dancing and drinking guests really enjoyed taking a moment and having some really good sweets.

@Aubergold: I agree! Who is so high and mighty that they think they get to decide what is “out” as far as weddings?
We’re doing a dessert bar because I know a lot of people don’t like cake, but love pies and cookies. Why not make your guests happy? Take THAT group of people who think they know it all!

Candy buffet! I’m stoked about it!

Not doing any of them, but only because I’m too lazy to orchestrate a candy bar. 🙁

I got married in 2010 but I think a lot of these things were already overdone at that point too so I avoided almost all of them. The only thing on the list that I did was have a “Rustic Wedding”. But really it was just more of a rustic location. We had it at a barn… but it was part of a restaurant and the barn was quite upscale inside and we had a plated dinner and chivari chairs and all of kinds of fancy stuff so we didn’t go too far with the rustic theme.

I’m doing a candy bar…and actually I am looking to that more than any other part of my wedding reception…LOL. The food comes second =)

these lists are so ridiculous. “Ditch These Top 10 Trends from the Past!” the blogger acts like these things are from the 80s, not last year.

I’m not doing any of those things — wow I am soooo trendy! 😉
Seriously, I think all of those things are awesome (except for maybe being a bridezilla!!) I love candy bars, the moustaches, cupcakes, rustic weddings… I’m sure I’m doing tons of not-so-trendy things at my wedding and I could care less! 😀
