We are doing a funny intro when we come in and funky dance
it’ll be good comic relief to the somewhat upscale venue we have at the waldorf
our table numbers are named after all the foreign cities we went to
then our dance will be slow then we’ll have a fast funny dance in between followed by slow
I also have a surprise irish pub singer my fiance loves so much during dinner, itll make him happy and his family from england feel at home
i want to do more unique things
anyone else have unique rituals ideas?

I love unique ideas! Yours sound awesome! Just a warning, though, based on your comment – don’t assume English and Irish are kind of one and the same, or you’re liable to start a brawl, ha ha! I think the pub singer is a fantastic idea, I really love that.
I am obsessed with Dr. Pepper to the point that it’s an inside joke among my friends, so I was considering having glass bottles (do they make those?) on a tray during the cocktail hour.

yeah I know, well my fiance loves this irish singer and he doesnt even know he’ll be performing it’s a surprise, my future mother in law is half irish so it’s all good; I know exactly what you mean, when I kept calling my fiance irish when I first met him he kept correcting me to no end, very very particular about it haha
i asked him to play some beatles songs, they are from Liverpool it’ll be great!!

Were planning on having a cigar roller at our wedding, its an outdoor wedding in the Carribean, so we thought it would be fitting and its also Fi’s new hobbie! And we got personalized matches to go with it too…It says: J***& J*** A perfect match! Cute huh?

Well our reception will be inside a theme park (Disney’s Animal Kingdom). We can’t have amplified music (dj or IPOD) but we can have a Themed Band. We are hoping to find out our options next month but we are really excited.

I love the ideas youve got, but beware of overloading your guests. Too many and they never get to relax and celebrate. (Yes, i realize that sounds silly but its still true.)

We’re having glass bottled Dr Pepper at our wedding! It’s actually Dublin Dr Pepper, which is manufactured in Dublin, TX with pure sugar cane – much like Mexican Coke, so it’s even better than regular Dr Pepper! PLus, the bottles have the adorable, old “10, 2 and 4” logo on the bottle. I’m so excited!

hmm….a cigar lounge…….vodka luge…..vodka toasting shots (due to FI’s culture)…impersonator…..chinese lion dancers…..photobooth & fauxtobooth….photo receiving line….these are not really unique, but also not your everyday wedding…….we still have a year to go, so i’m sure things will change….

My children (7 & 8) are walking me down the aisle.
It may not be unique, but I’m thrilled.

Most of my surprises are for FI- engraved ring, and after we kiss Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” will play (He told his bff’s that IF he ever got married, that would be the first dance song).

I venue is what is unique. It is an airplane hangar and there will be airplanes in and around the hangar. There is also an old Army Jeep and Buick in the hangar. So we are do a 1940s theme to go with that. I’m also doing an ice cream bar instead of groom’s cake. Fiance loves ice cream. I bought old suitcases and hats for our e-photos. So I plan to have them sitting around the old Buick so people can play dress up with them and take pictures. In front of the old Army Jeep I’m going to have our GrandDad’s old WWII items on display along with their picture. Two of them have passed away along with His Grandmother. She was in the Red Cross so we want to display some of her things too. This is our memory table for them.

@Querida – My boys (they’ll be 6.5 and 5 at the wedding) are going to escort me down the aisle as well!

Honestly, after we decided that the blessing over the bread was going to be given by the ex-husband of one of the brides, we figured we didn’t have to work hard on being “unique.”

We’re celebrating two other milestones in our family!
First, we’re celebrating an overdue 70th wedding anniversary of my grandparents. Even if they’re not physicall able to be there (hoping and praying they will feel well enough and will do all I can do to give them the most wonderful weekend and pay for them if they can attend) call them live during the rehersal dinner..
And we’re also celebrating T’s parents 50th wedding anniversary too!
We’re going to have a surprise cake brought out for them at the rehersal dinner along with their cake cutting and a short semi- vow renewal for them too and surprise bouts and corsages the night before!
I’m designing a four layer ivory cake (fondant) with alternating bands of either platinum or gold on each layer for their anniversaries!
Our wedding is a family affair and we’re so blessed to be surrounded by friends & our closest loved ones on that day.
We may not have the venue selected yet or the exact date, but we know the details of the weekend! And this is going to be such a fun surprise for them!
