Our budget is super tight so I’m not planning on doing them.

We’re planning on doing them – but I don’t think that anyone would be bothered if you didn’t do them.

I’m planning to, because we’re having a Catholic ceremony and only about 25% of our guests are Catholic. I have been to weddings without them, I think it’s perfectly fine.

We’re also on a tight budget but I want to make sure people know who is who and also the order of the wedding.  I bought some cardstock paper for my invitation maps and I’ve got lots left over so I’m just going to print a 2-sided program on cardstock (two per page) and cut them myself at Michaels.  It will cost less than $15 total.

We did because we had a reading we wanted to include, plus our church made us put in a sentence or two about not taking photography during the ceremony.

I bought regular church bulletins off of an online bookstore’s website for $12 for 200 programs.  Our church secretary printed and folded them, plus printed our insert for free!  All we did was stuff the programs with the insert and put them in baskets.  So, ask if your venue would do something similar.  If not, see if a community college or library would let you photocopy.  Usually it’s .10 a page, which is maybe $20-40 depending on if you have a front/back or just single sided.

Honestly I have never been to a wedding that gave them out. I didn’t know anything about this stuff until I joined weddingbee.

We’re doing them, but just because I want to. 😀 They’re really not necessary. I’d say I’ve seen them at about half of the weddings I’ve been to.

We did them and as a guest, I like having them to use to follow along with and to find out who all of the people who are involved in the wedding (wedding party, readers, etc) are.

Programs can be done for super inexpensive (like $10-$15).

@Mrs.MedinaJr: I am with you on that! However I did know what they were kind of, but never intended to use them for myself, nor have I seen them used at any wedding I have attended.

Yes, but only b/c we’re having interfaith wedding and want to explain some of the elements of the ceremony.  I also think people like having something to read.  But I don’t think it’s necessary- it’s a good place to cut costs IMO.

Definitely NOT necessary!  We’re doing them since we’re writing our ceremony ourselves to people can follow what’s happening.

I’m using leftover cards my mom had from my bridal shower that are a good size and came with a template.  Just printing in Black and punching 2 holes at the top and running ribbons through them 🙂  Already have what I need so no additional cost.

(except maybe, just maybe, I should get my a$$ in gear and WRITE the ceremony!) 🙂

We’re having programs but I definitely don’t think that they’re a necessity. I designed our programs and matching menus in Pages on my Mac. They look great and all we have to do is buy more ink.
