    It’s a logistic and cost thing, but I’m going to do it myself.  I’m hoping to use Mrs. Rainbow’s skin secrets and Mrs. Jellyfish is my eye-inspiration.  I am going to go for a trial somewhere to get tips and make-up recommendations, and I might make my Maid/Matron of Honor practice with me a few times before the big day.

    I’m getting my done professionally. If I did my own, there’s no way it would last through the July heat!

    @FutureMrsChaney: Ha! Cute. πŸ™‚

    I’ll be getting it done.  I suppose I could do it myself, but I just plain don’t want to.  I also don’t love my skin, so I’m hoping a good makeup artist will know what to do about that.

    Definitely getting it done – I don’t wear make-up most of the time, and although I am quite capable of creating a bit of a “look” for a night out, I don’t trust myself to manage it for my wedding. And the couple of times I have had an MUA, they’ve been amazing!

    Much too early in the planning process for a make-up inspiration board, but I probably won’t make one – just talk before the trial and after it about what I want…

    I did my own makeup both days.

    @deliciousappleblue: My skin’s not the greatest either, but I’ve found that using any moisturizer first, then applying foundation with a brush is the best way to go and covers pretty much anything. And you can always go back in with concealer if there are some hard-to-cover spots. Using a brush for powder (loose or pressed) works best, too, since there’s not the hard patting or rubbing you usually get with the little fabric applicator.

    Definitely getting it done professionally. I don’t normally wear makeup so I wouldn’t even know where to begin doing it myself. I would much rather pay someone to make sure I look fabulous. Besides, $100 really isn’t all that much in the grand scheme of things.

    Got mine done professionally and it was so worth it! We did a trial hair and makeup run and I brought in an inspiration pic and she did exactly what I wanted and replicated it exactly on my wedding day πŸ™‚

    @Mrs Grape: Well the thing about my skin is that back in high school it was bad, so even though it’s pretty much fine now, it’s just never going to have that smooth look, you know?  A little bumpy, if you look close.  I’m sure nobody really cares, but I just know it’s going to bug me and I’ll feel better knowing it’s been professionally taken care of.

    I’m careful to moisturize and I don’t wear makeup except on my eyes, because I don’t want to clog it up with foundation or anything.  I’m paranoid that even concealer or the lightest foundation in the world is going to make me break out or something.  I’ve never actually tried.  Not an experiment I want to conduct on my wedding day.  πŸ™‚  Like I said, I could probably do it, but I plain don’t want to.

    @deliciousappleblue: Fair enough! πŸ™‚ I was originally going to have mine done professionally, but then I was playing around at home and realized that there was no difference between what they did and what I could do. I wouldn’t want to mess around with makeup on my wedding day if I didn’t normally wear it, either–can’t blame you for that one.

    @Mrs Grape: A friend of mine did her own and I was actually surprised.  Before that I always just assumed that everyone got it done (I don’t know a THING about weddings) and I was like “wow, I’m impressed”.  I am a firm believer in looking like yourself on your wedding day, though, so I’m fully in favour of doing your own makeup – I just don’t want to be responsible for my own foundation.  I’m going have my artist do pretty much the same thing I always do myself, but better.  I know that’s kind of a waste of money, but whatever.  πŸ™‚

    I had mine done by a friend, who happens to have been a professional make up artist in the past. She didn’t let me pay for it though.

    I am really struggling with this!  The only thing I would feel more comfortable with a professional doing is false eyelash application and contouring my nose (which I do not even know if they can do). Airbrush makeup would also be a perk of using a professional.

    I think I am fully capable of doing my own but the new products I would have to get (foundation brush, primer, makeup setting spray) would add up anyway.  I think I’ll do makeup for my trial, see how it goes, and then decide.
