Some parents are clueless and think their kids can do no wrong. As a parent I KNOW my child can go off the rails and it’s my job to watch him especially while not in our own home.

allyfally:  Yeah, when you said that part about “the parents say he was raised around dogs and knows how to act”, I thought – he’s TWO. He doesn’t know how to act. I would freak out, too. Or I’d sick Squirt on him whom I affectionately call Schitzophrenic Socio Psycho Path. Go ahead, give SQuirt a hug.

allyfally:  That’s ridiculous. I live in an apartment complex and I was walking my dog the other day. He is a 4 year old cockapoo, but he was found on the streets in a major city and we don’t know what his past was like. I highly doubt he’d bite anyone (he never has and is super sweet with everyone) but little kids freak him out sometimes and he growls at them.

The other day – I was on the sidewalk in my complex and this 3 year old walking with his grandfather just came up and started to smack him in the face (his way of petting him I guess ). My dog of course started to growl and bark at the kid and I was so annoyed with the grandfather. Get your fucking kid away from my dog before he bites him!! You DO NOT let your grandchild go up to a strange dog! No fucking way!!! Like you said, I didnt know the kid so I didnt want to touch him and pick him up but I was so afraid my dog would freak out. The grandfather finally grabbed his hand and pulled him away  – with no apology or anything.

Some people really just have no common sense.

A two year old doesn’t consistently know anything. I would never leave a 2 yr old playing with a strange dog, unless I was sitting right there beside the child.

On the other hand, I would never leave my dog playing with a strange 2 yr old, without me being right there beside them.

two year olds do not know better. Parents SHOULD know better, but many do not. If you have a dog that may bite a child if they pet them the wrong way you should put him in the back, regardless of what the parents say. I say that not because I think that you are wrong and they are right. They are obviously idiots. I am saying it because regardless of their behavior if your dog did bite their child they could sue you and win…not to mention your dog getting put down (by court order).

This is why it’s so unfortunate when dogs lash out and the idiot parents blame the animal. It’s not the dogs fault that their little douchebag tormented him but you know that these morons will never blame their special snowflake when they can instead place blame on the poor pup who runs the risk of actually being killed due to his actions. It sucks to have to lock up a member of your family in your house but if it’s between seperating the animals or putting him at risk, you seperate.

My friends dog bit an aquaintence’s kid a few years ago. The dog is the calmest pup I’ve ever met and would never hurt a fly but when the parents aren’t paying attention and the kid was HITTING the dog, she lashed out. She bit the kid in the arm and broke the skin. The parents laid it on thick. They pressed charged, sued my friends for medical expenses and demanded the dog be put down. She didn’t do any real damage but scared the kid and gave him an ouchie but these parents had no problem taking the life of this animal because their family sucks to epic proportions. Thankfully my friends won the case because they could prove that the dog was provoked but it was a truly shitty experience. Watch your fucking kids for god sakes. If your kid is an asshole to an aminal, I don’t feel bad if he/she gets hurt.

If you had just put the dog in another room you could have prevented the whole situation. Why put a 2 year old in such a tempting environment?

allyfally:  The parents are stupid and if I knew my dog was not good around toddlers I would put him away in my room until they left.  Unfortunately, I don’t trust many parents to properly control their children these days.
