@organizedbride11: :(((

That’s the thing, isn’t it? Not asking for anything, not expecting anything, but when they OFFERED and now are backing out or tweaking their gifts and efforts, it’s so frustrating, aggravating and certainly not fair to your side of the family. I’m so sorry. Can your Fiance talk to them at all? “You told Obride and I you could help, what gives?”

I am going through the same thing.  People promise things, and then, SURPRISE, they change their tune when it comes to actually paying up.  It’s so frustrating and adds stress where there wasn’t supposed to be any stress.

Sorry that you are going through this – I know how annoying it is!

@organizedbride11: Totally understand. Mother-In-Law backed out of a shower for me. Completely. She just…didn’t throw it. She told me the date and the date came and went and….well, she’s a b!tch.

But anyway…I know how you feel. In hindsight, I’m starting to think that while Darling Husband was excited and proud that my family was helping us so much, he shouldn’t have told his parents about it. They probably thought “Ah, well, let Just_Squeeze’s family, do it then. We hate her anyway”.

Blah :((

@Just_Squeeze: I think that is what is going on with my Future Mother-In-Law. Since my mother is paying for most of the wedding then FI’s mosther is taking the attitude if  I don’t have to pay for it I am not going to. Then on the flip side if it is socially expected then she will pay for it…. but ugh! Don;t tell me you don’t have any money then buy the kids a wii for their birthday!

Oh man! That is aweful! I agree, don’t say you are going to do something and then back out, don’t people think before they commit? I mean c’mon, it’s not that difficult to think “hmm, can I afford to offer this, or not?”!! ARGH!!  I’m so sorry you are dealing with this, how annoying!

@StormyRose:

@organizedbride11:

Ladies, we should petition for a “I hate Mother-In-Law day”. Maybe in March or something like that…It would entail all ladies to have multiple drinks at happy hour and just bitch. There’d be a bouncer at the door who checks ID and no MILs are allowed in…

(TO ALL WONDERFUL MILs out there! Please don’t take offense! I am just kidding and we wish all MILs were wonderful like you)

@organizedbride11: Wow! What a cheap thing to do, seriously. They offered to help and now they have reneged on their promise. I am so sorry! People don’t realize or care how much that can financially impact planning a wedding. My FIL’s offered to contribute to our wedding, but I am the type where I will believe it when I see it. I am just cynical that way. I went back and made sure our budget would allow for any setbacks if any should occur.

Sorry but that is ridiculous, how do you not have $25 to contribute?! If things are that tight, like you said don’t bring a gift but you cannot make empty promises!  I dont know what’s with people sometimes!

@Just_Squeeze: Count me in! I have to deal with mine tonight and I am not looking forward to it. Anyone want to take my place??? lol

@organizedbride11: You are not alone in having IL’s who give then taketh away. I know it is close to your date but if you can rearrange wherever possible then it is probably best to do so 🙂
