@NurseMandie:  Well, do you want to look elsewhere?

It sounds to me like you’re getting a really great deal for dinner at $13.99/person but I know that varies by area.

I think it’s really weird that they make you have a bouncer!  Could you try negotiating with the manager?  My friend got a discount when she had to postpone and re-booked at the same venue.

From the new “keg fee” I would maybe feel nickel and dime-d.

ugh that sucks! did you actually sign a contract/make a deposit on this place with your orginial date? (i cant tell from the post if you were rebooking at the same venue or a new one.) if so, would it be possible to get in touch with the person you were originally working with and explain the situation? they may be able to cut you a deal or work in discounts on other things to get you back close to the original price.

the plus side is that you do have close 2 years to make up the difference and spend a lot of time on your DIYs so everything will look awesome!

and that gazebo is beautiful. love the rustic vibe!

My frist step would be to contact the venue, the person who negotiated your original contract and see if you can’t talk to them about the price difference. Explain the situation and that you unfortunately had to rebook as it was so tramatic. See if you can get some of the difference.

Also – You’ve waited two years and you’ll be waiting another two years. That gives you another two years to save! I’m sure you can save $300 over two years with some careful planning. It’s not always easy, but its less than a dollar a day.

@NurseMandie: ask if they’d be willing to give it to you for the price in your original contract. The worst they can say is no. It sucks the price went up, but such is life unfortunately. It’s not a ton of money – can you recoup cost elsewhere? maybe you could get the extra cash by selling some of your clothes to a consignment shop or something similar to make some quick cash.  You’ve got some time to save up the extrta $.

A Jan 1st price increase for a new calendar year is very standard. The pricing you were banking on is very old, i’m not surprised they increased it. Unfortunate, but i’m afraid it’s fair :-(. Try negotiating about the keg fee. I know kegs can be quite messy so maybe it is for that – perhaps there was an incidence at a wedding this year where the keg /ice around the keg damaged the flooring or something? Maybe it can be negotiated as a refundable deposit instead of a straight-out fee.

@NurseMandie:  what is their reasoning for the “keg-fee”?  what is different from last year?  this is something they never had before so is this just another venue cash grab with a new title?

@NurseMandie:  I assume it’s going to be like a “corkage fee” for wine, which is also BS 🙂

@NurseMandie:  LOL yes, it’s not common in my area but I know it happens in others. Your venue probably just decided that’s a good way to make some extra money.  They’re obviously worried about drunk people.
