I’m not Catholic, but I like a good challange, so I try to give up something for lent each year. Are you giving up anything this year? If so, what?
I haven’t decided yet what I’m giving up, but I’d love to hear what you all are doing. I’ve also heard of people “gaining” something for lent, such as heading to the gym more or eating healthier.
So, let’s hear it!

I’m taking something on: making sure that I track all of my Weight Watchers points and follow the program. I’m having a hard time sticking with it because I love junk food. ๐

I AM Catholic and I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.. I think I’m going to begin working out again and I’m going to stop eating ice cream. Ice cream has been my current weakeness. Especially chocolate ice cream lol.. and maybe also skittles. I’ve been eating way too many skittles..

Our Priest says Lent isn’t just about giving up something, it could be about taking on something. He mentioned volunteering or going to the gym specifically.
I’m giving up alcohol and will be going to the gym for Lent.

I am giving up snacking on sweets during the day. We have an endless supply at work and it is soooo hard to resist, but I am going to do it!

I was raised Catholic but not practicing anymore, however I want to do Lent this year.
There is a coffee shop in my building that I frequent every couple days for muffins/bagels/cookies so I am going to give up going down there. I’ll donate the money I usually spend to a charity instead.

I’m also going to committ to going to the gym more

@Paiger8: I’m giving up alcohol. It’s become too much of an evening habit/ritual that I need the 40 days to cleanse my body and create a new evening and bedtime habit/ritual.

@beachbride1216: Maybe you’re new ritual can be reading a chapter of whatever book every night.. Or if you’re Christian/Catholic, perhaps reading a bible scripture every night?
Orrrrrrr maybe even 5 or 10 minutes of secluded silence. Like sitting in your room alone in the dark for 5 minutes to clear your mind and just meditate.. or pray..
Hmm… Im liking these ideas! I think I might do something like that too!
