Our office does a Yankee gift swap, so I will bring a gift for that. I bought an OPI nail polish set for <$20 for the swap (I work with all women). Otherwise, I won’t be giving presents to my coworkers.

We actually do quite a bit at work. We have 12 days of Christmas and a big gift. All of it is voluntary. But last year I gave everyone trail mix and I will do it again this year.

Hell no. I have enough family members and people I actually care about to buy gifts for.

We did a Chinese gift exchange at our Christmas party. FH brought a thermos that can charge in the car and I brought a gift certificate.

I make cracker brittle and I think this year, I’m going to make Oreo truffles too.  It’s a small office so we have a potluck and a little white elephant exchange.

I really don’t want to! But I was thinking of bringing a batch of fudge to work for everyone.  That counts right?

No. There are too many of them to do that and I don’t know where I would cut it off. I usually bring in some baked treats for everyone a few times before Christmas though!

My unit is doing Secret Santa so I only have to buy for one person.  He’s new and I have no idea what to get him.  He smokes so I guess I’ll just buy him a pack of his brand of cigarettes and a pair of Smart Wool socks or gloves or something equally lame.

In all my Career (30+ years) I’ve never given Christmas Presents to Co-Workers (I am a BIG believer in Traditonal Etiquette that Work Life and Personal Life should be truly seperate)

BUT I have given my Coworkers Christmas Cards (that is pretty common at places I’ve worked)… people tend to decorate their offices with them

And I have given a “small gift” to my Boss as a token of appreciation… especially so if it was a Company where we got Company Gifts or Christmas Bonuses

My “small token gift” was never anything personal… but usually a bottle of wine, box of chocolates, etc.

    Hope this helps,

Secret Santas… that is a whole other situation.  If that is going on then ya, I’m ok with participating and doing small gifts in that instance.  BUT it has been years since I’ve worked anywhere that has had those types of gift exchanges.

I got gifts for the two teachers I work under. I got them cute little buckets and inside I put lots of candy, white board markers, pens, and then a $10 giftcard to places I knew they liked. I probably spent around $18 on each gift.

Other teachers have bought lunch for everyone (just our grade level team, so not a ton of people) to have delivered at work. We all loved it. Baked goods are always a hit too!

We do Kris Kindle. This year we have to get mugs. I choose to take the term loosely. I got a large plastic cup that says ‘Its just water, I swear!’ and two beers!

Absolutely not!  Might bring in some christmas cookies or something for everyone to enjoy – but thats it.  No gift.  My mom brings in boxes of candy for her co-workers.
