I was in retail for 10 years, and this is the FIRST holiday season in a decade that I can say “Ha!” to Black Friday and all the retail shopping crap… I’m super excited to have a real holiday season for the first time in my adult life.
I was thinking… who is shopping on Black Friday?
Who is working retail Black Friday? What store?

I’m going out, but more for fun than anything else. I am not going to any stores that open on Thursday because i think its unfair that the workers can’t even enjoy Thanksgiving because they have To work.

Nope. I’m not dealing with that craziness. I already can’t deal with going to the mall between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The parking lots are a nightmare becuase everyone becomes so rude, and stupid, apparently. If I do any holiday shopping, it’s always online.

A lot of stores are doing online sales starting tomorrow, so we’ll hit those and then go out mid-morning on Friday. It’s not TOO crazy in my area + I feel obligated to get some stuff like aerie pjs/panties cheap!

I am a non retail employee but have to work still. I do not plan on shopping. I’m actually going to get a haircut.

I can’t wait! I love Black Friday! I won’t be going out before midnight, though. I believe everyone should be with their families on Thanksgiving, and making them work thast night at 8 or 9 pm is cruel! I’ll wait until the 12-6am range before I start going out!

@strawbabies: haha yeah that reminds me how everyone says how it’s the time for kindness and sharing and giving… and I’m like… what? People become selfish, greedy MONSTERS during the holiday! If you’re not a loved one, they’ll KILL you for that sweater… it’s disgusting.

@abbie017: Yeah, a couple years back when stores started opening at midnight, I knew it’d be very soon that stores would open on Thursday, and here they are! 8pm. It’s sick =( Eventually they’ll probably be open all day with basically normal business hours. Stupid greedy companies.

@yanamari: Exactly! Let’s give thanks for everything we’re grateful for at the end of November, then be assholes to get good deals on gifts for the next month.

Ha! I have all of my Christmas shopping done, except for the cards. I even have MILs gift ordered. Thank gawd for jewlery TV and their free shipping Monday or Mondays. She’ll be stunned, it’s gorgeous and so not expensive. She’s used to DH who is a love, but a dorky gift giver.
I did every bit of it online this year. Anything to stay out of the mall. Except to get my brows waxed.
But it won’t be on Black Friday.

Ugh I hate that I am going out. I feel like I should boycott the ridiculous black friday on thurday thing. However we are saving for our wedding and Fiance is convinced DD’s christmas wont be complete without a powerwheels. Since I will not pay $279 and walmart has it for $129 at 8pm I guess we are going. We are buying that and only that and heading home hopefully.

I’m a big online shopper so I’m waiting for cyber-Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend). That way, I can avoid the crazy crowds and get the same deals!

I’m working at Famous Footwear. I don’t think i’ve ever brought anything on Black Friday, though I’ve shopped once or twice.

I usually only exclusively shop online and I don’t have many x-mas gifts to buy anyway. I sort of already have an idea of what I’m getting the folks I’m buy gifts for.

My mom and I usually go but not at midnight or anything like that. We like to wake as early and go around 5 or so. This year we are going to be in a cabin in gatlinburg so I doubt we go. There are some outlet malls nearby that open at midnight though!
