Our engagement was relatively quick (9 months) and we never really got around to it.
I don’t like getting my picture taken and I really don’t know what we would do with all these photos of us…
I know that people often get these so taht they can get comfortable with their photography…we are having a friend of my parents (who is a professional photography) do our photos for a deeply discounted price, however, I don’t feel like we are missing out.
I’m just curious if I’m alone on not having engagement photos…

Ours was only 4.5 months, but we had them so we could work with our photographer beforehand and she gave us a REALLY good deal.

I would have liked to, but we’re doing a Destination Wedding so our photographer is in MX. She did offer to take Epics if we flew to MX to scout venues, but we didn’t do that.
It would have been fun, but I’m not crushed that we didn’t get to take them. My dad is also a pro and I suppose I could have asked him, but honestly, I didn’t really care.

Our engagement was 9 months as well. We did the pictures in June and got married in July. The biggest reason we did them was to get used to the camera and the photographer. We also did them in the same place as the wedding pictures so we could scope out some good spots.

We’ll end up with a 2 year engagement, and really have no interest in e-pictures (we take pictures together all the time, and we’ll get wedding pics next year…why do we need MORE?). BUT, our Oklahoma City photographers emailed us to say they will be in New Mexico next week (on vacation), and asked if we’d like to do some e pics whilte they are out here.
We debated but ultimately said yes because it might be nice to meet the photogs before the wedding, and they’ll get an idea of exactly how UNphotgenic we are, so they’ll be prepared for the ceremony.
I still don’t think we need them, and I’m pretty sure won’t use the pics for anything, and I would not have actively set up an epic shoot.

We are. They’re included in our photo package and we’ve had a longer engagement.
However, I know plenty of couples (my best friend from college), who chose not to and that was just fine too.

Yes only because we’re getting them for free. Our engagement was short as well, 6 months, and I didnt’ see the need. But FMIL’s friend is a photog just starting up and said she’ll do our e-pics for free as long a she can use them on her website. So we’re getting them done just so we have pictures to use in the guest book. Getting married in 37 days and am STILL doing e-pics LOL

we got them only because they were free – from a friend as a nice favor.

I really wanted to get e-pics because we hardly have any pictures of us together. Usually if we go on vacation or something it is one of us taking a picture of the other because we don’t have another person to take it of both of us. I am definitely uncomfortable in front of the camera and I am convinced that I just cannot take a good photo, but I knew that if there were ever going to be any decent photos of me and us together it would have to be done by a professional, lol. We got ours back in June and, hey, we are date twins!
Anyway, I put all of the photos into a photobook on Picaboo.com and am using it for the guest book. I also made a copy for my Mom and Grandparents as thank you gifts (in addition to a wedding album later).

We’re doing ours today, almost 7 weeks out 😉 Our photog is from another state so we’re in his area this weekend. My fiance is also very anti having pics taken of him and we’re both awkward. lol… we ARE doing it to get comfortable with our photographer. Not only for us though, but so he knows how we respond and interact and he can better capture US as well on our wedding day. Don’t get me wrong, I’m STOKED for our pictures! However…. the benefits are what really forced us to make it happen. 🙂

Yes we are doing ours for our save the dates and so we can pass them out at the wedding. We take ours november 20th of this year.

We had a 14-month engagement, and one of the reason we had e-pics was because our engagement was so long! Haha. We wanted it to feel official since after booking the major vendors, there’s not much else to do after that for a while.
I actually hate having my picture taken, but I’m glad we had the e-pics done. It was good practice to see how we photograph and what angles look good.

I wasnt planniing on it. But Hubby and i were pretty nervous about the whole “camera in your face” thing so we go them done and made the pictures into our guestbook…otherwise i think they are pretty silly and a waste of time.
I mean, what im trying to say..is if you are getting them done to do something with them then go ahead, makes sense. But my friends got some done and no one ever saw them…they just got the done “cause thats what engaged couples do!!” I thought that was lame and a waste of money.

We are having or should I say had engagement pictures. We originally were not going to do engagement photo’s and was just going to get someone to take a couple nice photo’s to use for the newspaper and whatever else we wanted. But when we picked our wedding photography package it was included. So we figured why not have the photo’s and they turned out awesome.
But if they weren’t in our package, we would stuck to taking a couple nice pictures ourselves and use the money elsewhere.

We were not planning to have them but then our photog threw them in for free and it was an opportunity for us to meet him in advance. We didn’t use the pictures for newspaper announcements or anything wedding related other than the “guestbook” mat that guests signed, all around an 8 x 10 of one of our e-pics. It did end up helping my husband get used to having a camera in his face — something he did NOT enjoy and was pretty awkward for both of us but at least he was prepared for it when the wedding day rolled around. 🙂
