No, the photog is coming after everyone is dolled up.  The only action shots we’re getting are of things like putting on jewelry, buttoning up my dress, putting on shoes, and FH putting on tie/jacket.  I don’t really need to commemorate much more than that.

I love those "getting ready" shots when they’re done well, but I didn’t want it for me. I don’t miss them at all.

I don’t want to be a "before" on my wedding day!

Hahaha!  My photographer showed up while I was stuffing my face and wearing no make-up.  I was slightly worried about it at first, but quickly got over it.  She and a second shooter were all up in my (un-made up) face, but somehow managed to do it without interferring or making me uncomfortable.  While I was getting ready, she snapped pics of me and my girls (the second shooter got the guys) and they both took pics of things like the flowers and jewelry.  She was there when I stripped down to my super cute ("Soon to be Mrs.")underwear I received at a shower and got into my dress, and I’m pretty sure I heard her snapping a pic of my bottom as I got into it (we’ll see how that turns out!).  I didn’t think I would want many of those pics, but I think I’ll enjoy seeing them because it just documented that day.  I can’t wait to see the shot of my sister teasing my hair and me with my face crinkled up and my mouth open in a mock scream from the pain or the ones of one of my other bridesmaids bracing me while I was being tied into my dress.  They are fond (non traditional) memories from that day with important people and I can’t wait to see it all come together!

At my FSIL’s wedding a couple of weeks ago, the photographer got some shots in while she was still geting dolled up and they look amazing.  One of the bridesmaids also had a video camera going for most of the time we got ready.  She said she has a video from her wedding and she loves watching it.  Just for herself.

We couldn’t afford to have our pro-photographer do our "getting ready" shots, so i asked my cousin’s girlfriend (who does photogrpahy as a hobby) to take them.  She’s a good friend, so it was fun to be able to visit with her while she was shooting.  Also, we had a bit of a mishap while I was putting on my dress that I’m glad my pro-photographer didn’t see!  At one point, something slipped, my bra went flying, and there I was standing topless in front of the camera!  We all just laughed, but I would have been MORTIFIED had our pro-photographer been there for that!  (I’m a bit bashful!)

I said no photography/videography of me until after my makeup was done. It worked out fine.  They got shots of the other girls and my mom and well as the dress, shoes, jewelry, etc. and then when I was done they came to me.  It shouldn’t be a problem.  I’m sure vendors are used to us vain brides 😉

MsHymanRoth: I’m definitely not planning on many people seeing most of those, but I can imagine sharing some with those involved.  If you decide you want some of this time captured on film, you could save a few things for right before you put on your dress (powder/blush, mascara, eye shadow, a few pieces of hair to curl/pin, etc).  Whatever you decide, I’m sure will be fine for you.  This is just my feeling/view after having it done!
