Nope.

I love my family and friends as they are, famous or not. I could invite a couple of pro-footballers I know, or some political figures, I even know 2 famous musicians, but none well enough to invite in place of friends or family, especially when we’ve trimmed our guest list.

that’s actually a fun idea as a conversation piece… hmmm…. i think for my FH I would love to try to get Contador’s response (road cyclist), Alton Brown… for kicks maybe Snoopy… now depending on who becomes president!…

I got a card from the President.  I believe this site was used.  I would think it easier than sending an invite.

Edit:  I would also wait until Obama takes the position.  I would have prefered my letter be signed by him rather than Bush.

I agree with some of the other posts that I might do the President thing, depending on how next week goes!  I think it would be cool to show future grandkids that we got a letter from the President in this historical election!  Other than that, I don’t know any famous people!

Great idea – how fun if someone actually sent a response card back with their autograph or a personal note saying how they’re sorry they are that they can’t make it! For me; Oprah, David Beckham, Hillary Clinton, Obama and yes Kathy Griffin – why not!

i found out about the whole "inviting-the-president-to-your-wedding" thing in middle school when a cousin of mine did it. i’m extremely fascinated by the political realm, and always thought that i would do it. recieving well wishes from the president (or someone who works with him, at least) – how neat! BUT, unfortunately i think obama will be president at the time of my wedding, which means i won’t be getting my wedding greeting from the president. makes me so sad.

i was thinking and i came to a conclusion about my celebrity guest list – tony romo (sans jessica simpson, of course), tim mcgraw and faith hill, and the gosselins from jon & kate + 8 (SLIGHT obsession)! perhaps oprah too – i feel like she’s give an amazing gift!

Okay… I thought this was cool Especially since my husband is a LEO.  So I sent a request to the President and the Colorado Govenor.  Thanks for such a neat idea. I think my hubby will love receiving the letters!

*ps… if you do a google seach for "Wedding Greeting Requests" you will come up with more info on how to obtain letters from VIP’s

I’m not inviting him…but our wedding is November 8th, and if Obama wins on November 4th, we’re sending him a thank you note thanking him for the wonderful gift (his winning), haha.

We did invite a famous musician who is friends with my Father-In-Law, but he can’t make ’cause he’s on tour.  He did, however, send a very nice gift!

Well I’d love to invite the Governor of Alaska..and the Senator from Arizona.  The next VP and Prez.

And I will also be sending them a thank you note for their outstanding service to our country, for his selfless sacrifices,  loyalty to his country, and hopefully a congratulations on next Tuesday.

I do have a friend who has a famous father, helped write the song "Layla" (Derek and the Dominoes) and he was a good friend of mine from high school..  And I can say that back in the 90’s when I won our local Miss America Preliminary, my chaperone was John Grisham’s wife..Renee.  A lovely woman on the inside and out.

My mama IS famous! Sort of…she’s a novelist (Susan Wiggs, for any book-lovers out there!) We’re actually giving signed copies of her books as our favors.

Other than her, I love the idea of inviting famous people to see who responds. What a fun idea! We’d probably invite people who are leaders in the communities that have shaped our lives – for example, I was a competetive swimmer for 16 years, so I’d invite Janet Evans and Ian Thorpe (okay, okay, Phelps too…I guess). Tina Fey, Ellen Degeneres, and Jerry Seinfeld all come to mind, too.

i invited the pope + the president + the queen of england. i think i only heard back from the president via a notecard with a seal and all, even though i’ve read the others respond too. some people invite martha and oprah, but i was terrified they’d show up! could you imagine their standards
