LOL  “Your travel plans” = alot different than “Your wedding and honeymoon plans.”  Is it possible they weren’t clear that this was your WEDDING?

I’m so sorry!  I’d reiterate that it’s your honeymoon and that there’s no way you’re able to change those plans, but how much you’d love to work there starting June 25.   Good luck!

Maybe they remembered you couldn’t start in June but didn’t remember why.  I would just remind them that you can’t because you are getting married.  Let’s hope they just forgot.

It sounds like a simple misunderstanding. They may have forgotton the reason why you couldn’t start then. I would do a follow up phone call and explain about the wedding and honeymoom.

I just clarfiy to them tha tit is your wedding and honeymoon. Maybe they are hoping you can squeeze in a few days before the wedding and then start immeadiately upon return, which I don’t think would be an unreasonable request.

@Topazwedding It sounds like they really like you if it’s based off of your resume without an interview. Hopefully the dates work out for you, even if the pay sucks it might be a good stepping stone.

Okay, don’t freak out yet. I had this same thing happen. I was offered a job that wanted me to start July 1 of last year, despite us getting married on July 16 and then going on a honeymoon. I was stressed.

But I talked to them, and we compromised. I told them I couldn’t start full-time until August 1, but that I would come in a few days in the beginning of July for training.

I’ve now had this job for nine months. It all worked out.

Can you try to work out something like that. Come in for training for a few days before your official full-time start date?

Well with all the people desperate for a job, including the ones with sub par pay, do keep in mind that they can just hire someone else! They have only went as far as to express intrest, So if you really want the job I would try and be as nice and flexible as possible.

Just FYI, once your go to vet school, you will still be VERY lucky to make $15-20/hr.  You’ll just be working more hours.  Plus, then you may have student loans to pay back.

As a horse vet, I make less per hour than you would at that job.

Not to bag on the profession, but PLEASE do not go into veterinary medicine to make money.  You will be so dissapointed.

They care about their business needs, not your “travel plans”, so they probably thought it was worth a try to ask 😉 thank them for their interest, and tell them that the time off is for your wedding and honeymoon, but if they might be flexible in the start date you’d be happy to interview.

Sorry to be potentially a little bit harsh.  I love my job.  And, I would do it all over again.  Plus, I make less per hour but I make more per year than a SA receptionist would.

I just get jaded and sad watching new graduates realize that they didn’t know what they were getting into.
