Wait… I’m confused. Why are you moving it up because of baby? If you were going to do it in September, can’t you still do that? You’ll already have had baby by then… July, right? And will maybe be able to fit into already-ordered dress! Or… more likely than when you’re filled with baby. lol ^_^ You won’t have any idea what size you’ll be at 6 months, and you might feel terrible, and… it just sounds much more stressful! Why not just keep September?

@DrTeeth:  I’m confused – how did they have your measurements if you didn’t order it in April?  How did they choose what size?  Usually, you have to sign something when you order the dress.  How come you guys paid for it if you weren’t ready to order it?

@yanamari:  That’s a good suggestion, too – considering she said she’ll be 6 months pregnant in April, so she should be due in July, giving her about 2 months before the wedding.

So you did start making payments even though they weren’t going to order it yet??  Did you sign any sort of agreement with them?  How did you make the payments?  If it was on a credit card and you dont have anything signed, I’d just file a dispute with the credit card company.  If you paid cash or check.. I’m not really sure what you can do about it.

Yeah I wouldn’t want to deal with wedding stress AND post-partum hormones AND a widdle baby to constantly care for. NO FUN.

Girl, there has to be a way to adjust your dress. Or maybe just sell the dress you have and use the funds to buy a more open, empire-waisted or Grecian dress that will accomodate you and the baby.

Best of luck and congratulations!!!

@DrTeeth:  Argue with them that you were you paying for the dress and hadn’t ordered it, yet.  Stop making payments.  If you haven’t signed to order a specific size, they can’t hold you to that size, IMO.  Don’t let it go – get a lawyer friend to write a letter if need be.

@DrTeeth:  Ohh. I thought you said you’d be 6 months pregnant when you plan to be married April, so I figured you were due in July… not 3 weeks before the original date o_O  Yeah that would suck. Also… payment on the venue would have been enough for me. haha. Sucks that they’ll let you move it up but not back… and also… odd… ? As long as it wasn’t like, the following year or anything. Plus September is peak wedding month! I figured they’d be happy to move it so they could book the day again. weird. -_- But you don’t want to delay it anyway, so it doesn’t even matter. haha. anyhoo… It doesn’t sound like the shop can do that or hold you to it, especially since they said they’d wait until January. Totally not your fault.  I definitely agree with @futuremrsk18 on that one. You wanted it ordered in JANUARY, not… last month, or however long ago they ordered it to have it in NOW. That’s ridiculous.

@DrTeeth:  Wait, if you weren’t ordering it til April, why did they have any of your mom’s money? Did they charge some holding fee or something?

Just saw you mention this in a later post. Do you have anything in writing (like an e-mail) with them saying they would not order it til January? Honestly, i your mom was paying on a credit card or something, she can tell the CC company what happened and they can step in to stop or redact payments pending an investigation. if she was paying for it in cash or by check, you guys are on your own.

Talk to the manager that was on staff when you two were in store, and DEMAND your money back. You didn not tell them to order it, you had discussed not purchasing til later, they need to deal with their own mistake.

So you’ll be 5 months along in April? You might not actually be showing very much, if this is your first pregnancy.
