We are mainly sticking to things that can be bought in bulk at Costco.  We’re thinking of:

    Pretzels

    100 Calorie snack packs

    Gum

    Fruit Snacks

    Fun size chocolates

    Chips

    Peanut Butter Crackers

    2 bottles of water

    Asprin

    A welcome note.

We’re getting married in New Orleans so we’re including some beads, local area map, visitors guide, welcome letter, bottles of water, bag of locally made chips and some kind of candy.

You might consider also placing a contact sheet in and an itinerary for the weekend.  The contact sheet doesn’t have to have your numbers, but the numbers of people the can call if they get lost or are looking for last minute pantyhose and don’t know where to go.  The itinerary cuts down on confusions of time, which always happens when you are trying to coordinate oot guests.  Just a general start/stop times of events is enough.

Also, with any maps, heavy traffic areas and times are nice to mark on the maps.  Around here you want to avoid the interstate between 4:30-6:00, may not be a easy in larger areas, but the way our city is laid out it was easy for me to mark on maps.  We also marked where the parking areas are for our venues and where to park at our house.

I put in 2 small bags of snack pack cookies, 2 bottles of water, packs of peanut butter crackers. A small container of local made jam, a bottle of ibruprofen (which were $1 in the travel section at target and had like 12 pills!), a guide with suggestions of our favorite restaurants, an contact info for the Maid/Matron of Honor and Bridesmaid or Best Man if they had any questions, and because our wedding was in December a Connecticut ornament. For our jewish guests we put a CT magnet in their bags.

    – an itinerary/thank you/list of must-do things while in town
