So, the wedding is on Monday. Everyone around me is giving congratulations, and wishing us happiness – which is so very much appreciated.
I’m also asked about 20 times/day if I’m nervous. Honestly? No, I’m not. We’ve been together 10 years, and I’m not nervous at all. But when I say “not really” everyone gets weird looks on their faces like they expected a different answer and are now confused/disappointed.
This feels like a real-life version of the Sex and the City episode where Miranda finds out she’s having a boy, and everyone expects her to react more than she does.
Honestly? I’m not nervous; I’m not anxious. I’m just happy and ready to be married to Fiance. Please tell me I’m not the only one!
Oh well. Bottom line is people are wishing us happiness, and that is ONLY a good thing. 🙂

@mrsotg: congrats! Imgetting a lot of that too. The only thing that makes me nervous is the fact that people think I should be nervous. Good to know being excited is normal too.

We weren’t nervous. I think people asked him more about being nervous than me! Congratulations!
ETA – also, I loved that episode of SATC, because I’m pretty sure that would totally be me.

Ugh that was kinda annoying for me as well. However, I actually did get pretty nervous on the actual day, hoping everything went smoothly and that there wouldn’t be any mishaps, I wouldn’t trip on my dress walking down the aisle, etc. But being asked if I was nervous didn’t help because it just reminded me that I was, after I kept trying to get my mind on other things! Grrrr.

When my brother was getting married, my Future Sister-In-Law was pretty relaxed about the whole thing for months, right until we were in the hotel room getting ready. About an hour before the ceremony, she turned to us and said “Holy crap! I’m getting married!” It took a while to sink in and, when it did, it wasn’t so much nervousness as excitement (but it still took a whole year of being engaged for her to realise it!).
Don’t stress about what you’re feeling. Everyone feels differently about their wedding 🙂

Im so jealous! im so nervous i feel sick, its not about being with my fi forever, but the people watching me etc. i feel stressed now and i have a way to go. the only thing making me feel slightly better is that we arent having the 300 person wedding my fi wanted…but for me 100 is a lot!

I would say (yes, even a year out) that while I agree–I’m not nervous about getting married–I’m excited and look forward to the whole shebang, I am and probably will be a bit nervous about everyone having a good time and about other things that I can’t control happening, like vendors showing up and being awesome. I’m sure it’s probably going to be fine, but still, I worry.
