Specifically, about the way you load things into it? I know I have issues about the way certain things go into it, I like certain items in a certain spot, in a certain way. I really try hard not to complain when my SO loads it, but he does it in such a haphazard way, that it really irks me. More to the point, it’s inefficient. Like, I can go behind him, and fit way more stuff in there! I don’t say anything to him, because I love the fact that he’s not being a neanderthal, a la Al Bundy, and is actually helpful with household chores. (I’m a Stay-At-Home Mom by day, waitress by night, working about 25 hrs/wk, versus his 40 hrs, fwiw)
I can usually overlook the way he loads it, but what really burns me up, are the items that HAVE to be in the top rack, or bottle basket, because otherwise, they’ll fly all around/not get clean/melt; i.e., sippy cups and all their little parts and pieces and valves and straws. There’s a very specific reason for why those things have to go in those places, not just because I’m being OCD and power trippy. And yes, I’ve said, “Babe, these things have to go there because x,y,z.” Goes in one ear and out the other.
Okay, vent over.

Yes – and Darling Husband doesn’t do it right. Haha!
But in all seriousness, he doesn’t organize things in there efficiently. So when he thinks the dishwasher is full, I can rearrange and it is only 1/2 to 2/3 full and doesn’t need to be run yet.

I’m not allowed to load our dishwasher b/c I am just like your DH!!! Drives my Darling Husband insane 🙂

@Mrs.KMM: Thank goodness I’m not alone, lol!
@Mrs. Alias: I figured there’d be a few who were vice-versa.

I used to! Like CRAZY!
But… then my mom started a home for women, and over about a year I had to get over it b/c I was constantly going behind the reseidents and re-loading the dishwasher. lol
Now, I don’t care as long as they get clean… if for some reason I notice that they aren’t then I’ll say something.

omg.. I have a super specific way of fitting everything in there and I can’t stand it when it’s not done right. If FH loads it after a big dinner, I may rearrange things so that more can get in there, because I HATE washing dishes with a passion.

I totally have to go behind him to rearrange. But I hate doing dishes and loading them in the first place. So we’ve worked it out–he load, I rearrange, he unloads. Slowly over time, he is starting to load the way I do.

@Wonderwoman217: I don’t let him load the dishwasher. He kept putting things that would melt if they went in the bottom rack (instead of the top rack), putting knives down instead of blade up, putting bowls on top of dishes so they don’t get cleaned, etc.
It was driving me absolutely nuts! Such a waste of space, water and heat. I just do it now; it takes me 6 minutes to load it vs. 15 for him to do it haphazardly.

Yes I am OCD about my dishwasher. 90% of what I own is antique so I hate it when someone uses my dishwasher. They ruin my stuff!! Like last night wahhhaaa!

Darling Husband loads it! I’m hands off on that one!
Thought I’d share this from the new Oatmeal comic:
What we should have learned in our senior year of high school:

@MademoiselleL: Yep, sounds about right, lol!!!
I let Darling Husband load it, and then I go back and reload it. Somehow the guy can manage to fill up the dishwasher with two plates and a glass, I don’t get it. For a while I tried organizing the cutlery so it would be easier when I took it out, but then I realized maybe that was going overboard and stopped. Plus it’s always gross when the spoons stick together.

@MademoiselleL: hhahaha love this!

lol, this is so funny!!!
Darling Husband and I were seriously just talking about this 10 minutes ago when he was being sweet and loading it up and I was coming behind and saying, “no put the glass on the bottom and the plastic on the top. No you can’t put that in their or it will melt. See if you put them this way they can all fit….” blah blah
He does it mostly right and I think most of my OCD with it is just because my mother hammered it into my head so strongly when I was young 🙂
I just read the thread to him and we laughed about it though. I told him, “It’s okay. You did it 90% right.” And he said, “Oh good, I got an A” lol

@MademoiselleL: Omg, I snorted!
There seems to be a widespread epidemic of remedial dishwasher loaders. I feel better now 🙂

@bakerella: I love you. Totally think we would be friends IRL! I also thought about sorting my cutlery, but know that it’s better to mix it up just for the reason you stated. But I have to fight the urge to make sure that there is at least one kind of each type in each slot- big fork, little fork, big spoon, little spoon and a knife. 🙂
