We wrote our entire ceremony together! Not just the vows; the whole thing. It was extremely personal (but not too intimate!). Also, for music we had “I can’t smile without you” for the processional and “I second that emotion” for the recessional–both performed by loved ones. There was nothing not personal about the entire ceemony. 🙂

We are writing our own vows and doing a combo of a sand ceremony and a unity candle.

We are writing our own ceremony as well! I’ve looked at a lot of ceremony wording to get the feel for what we want to say, and Fiance and I wrote it together. We stil have some finishing touches, but I think it’s going well so far. We are having a short ceremony. No readings, prayers, unity candles, etc…Basically the welcome, a section about marriage, the statement of intent, vows, rings, pronouncement. We are tying our own vows in with teh traditional vows. I’m excited! But now we have to find an officiant. The pastor we were going to ask (FI’s brother and his fiance’ pastor) won’t do our ceremony because we’ve written it ourselves. We don’t have a relationship with him, so now it’s on to finding a justice of the peace. I wanted to see if there was someone close to us that would do it, but there’s not really a good candidate who’s willing.

I know a pastor who will do it if you send a personal email.

We are having a small wedding (50 guests), and pretty much everything about it is personal, including the fact that the people who are coming are all of our closest friends. Here are some of the things we’re doing:

-My oldest friend and her Fiance are singing

-All of their songs are things that are special to us, including those that they are playing as folks are filing in (processional – “Power of Two”, recessional – “It Had to Be You)

-Our officiant is one of our best friends

-We are each doing a little speech. It is odd to me that the two people the day is about never speak, so we’re each going to take about 5-10 minutes to talk about the other

-We are writing our own vows

-The venue is a place very personal to us

The reception is sort of similar…lots of little personal touches. Hope this helps!

We are going to be using different songs than the traditional wedding march for the processional, we are writing our own vows, and we will probably either write or own ceremony or customize at least parts of it.

We are writing our own ceremony (thanks to all the help i’ve gathered from various bee’s) and vows.  We are going to ask one of our friends to perform the ceremony, we aren’t doing the unity candle, and instead of being given away by my parents, we are going to have a pledge of support from all those attending.

I’m having a catholic wedding without mass. Family and friends are doing the readings, pastor is a childhood friend, prayers of the couple are written by Fiance and I.

We get to choose everything in our ceremony! Our officiant sent us a bunch of ceremonys and we get to pick and choose…we can even mix and match ceremonies! We are so excited for this! plus we are doing the sand ceremony as well…can’t do unity candle since it will be outside and could blow out. 🙂 And we’re thiking of maybe doing a hand fastening ceremony. I love the idea of it. and we’re also going to have family members do readings 🙂
