I didn’t bring my laptop – We were on a cruise and would’ve had to pay for internet use.  We brought our phones, but turned them off once we got on the ship 🙂 It was so nice (I’m an avid texter lol)!

We are taking my laptop and both cell phones BUT we are taking the laptop so that we can watch How I Met Your Mother (the season ends while we are gone so we want to watch it while we are there! lol) and so that I can put all the pics I take each day on the computer so I don’t have to worry about filling up the memory card. For our cell phones, I’m definitely more attached to mine than he is to his and I’m going to try hard to not get on my phone at all unless it’s an emergency.

We’ll take our phones for an emergency but I agree with you OP, no need to have them out all the time.

I’ll take my phone because I have kids and don’t want to be unreachable, but I never thought about taking my laptop. In my vacation experience, I’m either so busy or so tired from being busy, that I never have time to get online anyway.

We will be bringing our phones with us but will only use them for emergency. As soon as we are on the plane those puppies will be turned off and won’t be turned back on until we come back or if we absolulte need to turn them on.

I think we’ll each probably take our (smart)phones, and our tablets.

The tablets are better for watching things, playing silly things like Angry Birds (we snuggle, and play together on one tablet), and if we have WiFi, then reading the news and checking facebook.

And like another Bee mentioned, it would be nice to be able to see our photos as we take them.

We’re bringing cell phones only because I have 2 daughters that will be staying with my mom. Even though we’ll be on a cruise so there’s not much I could do or maybe not even get the call but I still have to have it for that reason. Other than that no electronics. I’m a photographer so I already have multiple memory cards lol.

Well, my wedding is in my home state, then we fly directly to the honeymoon, then from the honeymoon back to our current state. So in all, I’ll be away from the apartment for 3+ weeks including the 10 days before the wedding I’ll be at my parents’ house. I need to work during the time I’m at my parents’ house so I guess the laptop is coming with me for the whole shebang.  Definitely the cell phone too!

I’m a frequent business traveler. Flying with a laptop isn’t a big deal at all.

I might delete my work account from my iPhone while we are away. 🙂

My cell is absolutely coming. We need to keep in contact in case we get separated. We’re also brining a laptop in case we need to do some last minute research. I’ll probably check email and facebook at the end of the day to unwind though!

Took my laptop because I am a student and actually had 2 midterms and a final that week, also we were gone for two weeks, and I had to save my sanity. Wedding was planned before I had decided to go back to school so nothing I could do about it.

I’m not sure how many photos you take but memory cards can be pretty big and are much easier to transport than a laptop IMO. I have a 4GB and an 8 GB and I take a lot of photos but have never had a problem on any trip under 2 weeks. When I had a slight capacity issue, I just deleted some crappy shots of nothing in camera and let’s face it by the time I was over capacity I had something like 2000 photos so I clearly had some crap. Whenever we go on vaction, cell phones stay off and in the hotel for the most part so I assume it will be the same on the Honeymoon. Usually we do a couple of hours of WiFi but more on a 30 mins once every 3rd day to make sure the world has not collapsed or something and then phones are back in the room. I feel so much more relaxed no knowing what’s in my inbox.

@happyface:  I agree.  Get a larger memory card or get two.

We’ll be bringing our cell phones just in case we need them (we’re separated, some of sort emergency, etc), but we’ll be keeping them off. Not bringing our laptops. I have an 8GB memory card for my camera and I never ran out of space (even when I went to Italy for a month!). The hotel where we’re staying has an internet cafe in case we desperately need to log on, but I doubt it.

I went on a cruise last year and didn’t use my cell phone once. As someone whose iphone is literally glued to their hand 24/7, I have to say it was a nice change in pace be unplugged for a week! 🙂
