I would have loved to have been able to buy my girls’s dresses, but there was no way I could have afforded to do so. I don’t have that many bm’s (4) but I still could not have paid for their dresses. I did offer to give them some money for the dresses but they all said not to worry about it and that they would be able to foot the bill themselves.

You know, I always thought it was standard for the bride to buy the BMs dresses… until I started getting asked to be a Bridesmaid or Best Man every year.
I’m not paying for my BMs dresses. However, their dresses are so fabulous they’ll wear this dress to event after event. They picked the dresses out & the price range. 🙂 Actually I am buying my sisters dress, but I told her I get to keep it after the wedding lol.

I gave them their dresses as their gifts. This way, I also didn’t have a to add another thing to my to-do list. The dresses were less than $150 each and I only had 3 bm and 1 flower girl (flower girl dress was less than $10). We got them custom made in China.

thanks for the info; thats another thing, if i do buy them i’m not sure what kind of gift i could give them after that. i think i’m going to tell them the color and to purchase whatever they feel best in and can afford as well.

I’m not going to be buying their dresses but I’ll make sure they won’t be spending too much on them either. The girls I have in mind will all be about 18 at the time (younger sister and cousins) so they won’t exactly be able to afford much. I’m hoping things will work out that they can choose their own or have some freedom choosing so that it will actually be possible to find affordable dresses.

I voted ‘no’, but I did pay the difference for my friend’s maternity dress that cost more.
