I am going to register for crystal.

my mother is passing her china and silver down to me.

it doesn’t hurt although I feel it’s best to be settled and at a place in your life where you know you won’t regret the style or pattern you chose 10 years down the road.

Neither. We have no need for it, and we’ll never use it.

We’re not registering for anything as we live in a tiny flat and don’t have the space to put it, but even if we were we wouldn’t register for china or crystal.  It would never get used, so there would be no point.

The only reason we are not registering for china is because I have inherited three full sets of family china (totally amazing and I love them all). It doesn’t stop me from drooling over the Kate Spade New York line though!! The silver polka dot plates speak to me.

We didn’t register for either.  When we registered, my mom told me she would pass on her china to me as soon as Fiance and I were ready to host the holidays.

We did receive a few crystal pieces not from our registry.

Did not register for crystal or silver. But we did make a compromise and plan to use our china dishes as our every day dishes. So we registered for Villeroy and Boch all white china.

I’m not.. I’m just waiting for my grandmother’s to be passed down to me. Although my mom is waiting for it to go to her first.  I can’t see myself throwing any fancy dinner parties where I will need it.

We registered for both crystal and china. I went back and forth about it, because we live in a small apartment right now, and it’s definitely not a NEED. My aunt has both china and crystal that she uses for every holiday and special event, and it is really meaningful for her and makes the table so beautiful. She encouraged us to register for it, because hopefully soon we will be buying a bigger house and it will be something we use for our special events. We actually already have used it twice, when we hosted my mother in law for dinner and my parents for brunch, and it is so beautiful.

My advice would be to think about if you will actually ever use it- if you have people over, will you take the time to use it? Or will you be too afraid of it breaking to ever use it (that’s how my mom feels)? Do you have people over for dinner often? For us, another thing that decided it was that we already own many of the other usual registry items, so we didn’t have too much to register for.
