    Starbucks, or something similar.

Tim Hortons or a similar chain (I don't know the US equivalent... help me out Bees!)

No chain coffee for me! My go-to is a specialty cafe

    Coffee blows

I'll drink anything, just give me my caffeine!

    Other (feel free to explain!)

Tim Hortons.  Starbucks is way too overpriced.

There should be am option for making your own coffee. I never buy coffee unless I have a gift card. I definitely prefer making my own though!

We have Tim Hortons in Ohio and it is my fav! Hazelnut coffee– yum. I’m not huge on espresso drinks (I like them but I don’t crave them and I don’t like drinking that much sugar and I don’t like paying $5 for COFFEE), and i haaaate starbucks coffee.

@Duncan:  Look at you, bein’ all fancy. I have a friend who worked there up until very recently, actually.

My vote is for anythinngg. Depends on what I’m drinking, actually. For coffee, starbucks wins… Timmie’s coffee tastes like ass. I hate it. If starbucks isn’t available, McDonald’s coffee is at least more palatable than Tim Horton’s. However, I do quite like Tim Horton’s tea. Something about Starbuck’s milk is weird and my tea always ends up really watery and gross.

Timmie’s, usually… but I’ll splurge for a frap from Starbucks every once-in-a-while. Aside from that, we do the Kuerig thing.

Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Tim Hortons in that order. You can find all 3 in NYC.

Ummmm Dunkin… hands down. But there are a few local shops I like down here as well. Which is nice since DD is on the other side of town 🙁 Starbucks coffee tastes like burnt coffee.

ETA: I rarely actually go out and buy from a shop. Almost always brew at home.

I tried Tim Hortons when I was in Canada for 3 months last year. It was ok – but I liked Timothy’s World Coffee a lot better! Toronto had a lot of local coffee shops that were amazing, too! Where I live, I am actually upstairs from a Starbucks, but walk a half a mile to a Peet’s – they are a chain, but were started down the road from me, so I have loyalty to the local brand. Plus, I think the flavor syrups at Starbucks are awful, and I love me a caramel latte.

I prefer my coffee made at home though I don’t drink it often. I love experimenting with different brands, types, etc. Outside places tend to make their coffee way too hot, and it makes for some extra bitterness that isn’t necessary.

ETA: Fiance is a caffeine junky and will get his fix from anywhere. He will drink the coffee even if he doesn’t find it tasty because of need!

Timmie’s has doughnuts.  I’m a total doughnut addict.  Also, cheaper – my bank account doesn’t cry as hard when I go to Timmie’s for an iced cap.

Timmie’s isn’t just a Canadian thing – I live in the Midwest and they’re everywhere here. It wasn’t until about 5 years ago that Starbucks started creeping into my area. My area is a little lower-income than average, though, which could explain that.

    But I prefer Tim Hortons.
