(Closed) Are you Starbucks or Tim Hortons?

    Starbucks, or something similar.

Tim Hortons or a similar chain (I don't know the US equivalent... help me out Bees!)

No chain coffee for me! My go-to is a specialty cafe

    Coffee blows

I'll drink anything, just give me my caffeine!

    Other (feel free to explain!)

@PermaStudent:  Neither as I hate both. I like McDonalds coffee and Country Style.

I don’t like Starbuck’s regular “drip” coffee, as it always tastes either burnt or bitter to me.

However, their frappucinos, lattes, and other “specialty” drinks are fantastic! I go there at least once a week, but never order plain coffee.

I’m Starbucks sober now, but I’ll hit up an eco coffee for their iced mochas once every few weeks.

@PermaStudent:  I’ve never really heard of Tim Hortons.  Starbucks or a local shop for me!

Tim Hortons!!      Since moving from NY, where there is a Tims on every corner, to VA where there aren’t any, I have to rely on homemade…. which is good! but not the same.

I love me some Starbucks, but we live on a street that has not one but two incredible independent coffee shops – including one that’s in the front of our apartment building – so I find myself choosing them instead because why the heck not? But if I had a choice between chains, it’d be Starbucks all the way. They have the strongest coffee of the chains and are actually capable of understanding that I want a black iced coffee (try asking that of Dunkin’ Donuts and watch their button-pushing heads explode).

Fiance and I make our own iced coffee at home, mostly because of cost. If we ever buy coffee, I prefer to get it at an independent coffee house. There are so many good ones in LA. Our favorite is a little stand in the Farmers Market (the big one in mid-city). Seriously amazing.

I hate coffee.  I don’t need fancy tea, but the Timmies method for honey when I want it sucks.  Their cold drinks at the one I go to are very limited.  Their smoothies aren’t what I consider to be a real smoothie, and I don’t drink ice caps.  The frozen lemonaid is ok, but really sweet.  They don’t have any non-frozen drinks.  That way, Starbucks has way more selection.  I would pick Second Cup first though, as it’s a bit cheaper.

@tallierand:  Agreed – McDonald’s coffee tastes like coffee.  Not great coffee, but just ordinary coffee.  Timmy’s doesn’t taste like coffee; it’s something else completely.

@Duncan:  Thank you! I don’t know how anyone drinks it black. It’s no wonder so many people get double doubles (or triple triples)… the only way to drink it is to cover the taste with cream and sugar.

I’m honestly a coffee snob–I press my own pot each morning at work, and use locally-roasted beans. Tim’s tastes like garbage water to me, and coffee brewed at Starbucks is so strong that it tastes burnt (I don’t have any problems with their beans).

I voted “I’ll drink anything, just give me my caffeine!”

I am a serious coffee addict.  I will go through a pot of it myself when I’m home on weekends.  During the week I usually only have time for 1 cup before work, but then I have more as soon as I possibly can.  It’s bad.

I love Starbucks.  I’ve had Tim Hortons in the past (they do have them in some places in the U.S.), and I remember liking it … I just haven’t had it as often.  I also love Fox Hollow, Scooter’s, Crane, Blue Line, Caribou … I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting, but those are the ones that immediately came to mind.  I know some of these are chains, but I think some of them are only found in Omaha.

Mmmm … Now I want coffee!

@tallierand:  I used to drink an XL double double on the way to hockey practices before McDonald’s revamped their coffee (which, until the McCafe thing, was hot water with a black crayon dipped in it, I think).  There’s not much open at 4:30 am, so I had little choice of caffeine delivery system.  But McDonald’s does the trick for me now.
