The blog post on the front page got me thinking about honeymoons. We are waiting to take ours because we simply do not have the vacation time for it. We live in Ohio and are having the wedding in Wisconsin (where we are from). We planned out our vacation days very carefully and had to account for other weddings and events in Wisconsin so we don’t have many days left to go on a honeymoon.
Whenever people ask I tell them I’m not sure that we will go on a honeymoon. I guess we are planning on taking a vacation (somewhere warm and sunny) early in 2014, but I don’t know if I would call it a honey moon since it’s so far after our wedding. Quite a few people are surprised by this (which surprised me)! There have been quite a few weddings in my group of friends lately and almost all of them have waited a few months before taking their honeymoon. I don’t know if it’s because we are all entry level and don’t have a lot of vacation time (or money saved up) or if people typically wait to take one.
When are you taking your honeymoon? And if you have time to comment I would love to know where you are going so I can get some ideas of where to look!

We are waiting until June – so three months after our wedding. Good thing, too, because Darling Husband just went in for (unplanned) knee surgery about 10 days after the wedding!

- Wedding: March 2012 - Father's Vineyard Church/ A Touch of Class Banquet Center
Mr. D and I did not take a honeymoon. We might one day take an anniversary trip, but because we paid for our wedding ourselves, we just could not afford a honeymoon. Honestly, it wasn’t a huge deal to us. We travel quite a bit visiting family, and Mr. D’s dad paid for us to come visit him in Florida about 6 months after the wedding and even got us a private suite at the hotel (the whole family was staying at the same hotel and most were sharing rooms), so we accepted gratefully and loved having our own little place to retreat to when we wanted some privacy on the trip.

Our honeymoon will be in July, which is 8 months after our wedding.

Our honeymoon will be the April/June after our wedding, so 8-9 months after our wedding, it is just the best time to where we want to travel to. Plus, it will give us a little wihle to save for it and not freak out.

we went on our honeymoon about 3 months after our wedding. we had too much to take care of right after the wedding- moving, military stuff, etc. so we went somewhere local-ish for our mini-moon (3 weeks after we got married) and then went on our real honeymoon later

We left for our honeymoon at Walt Disney World three days after the wedding. It was nice to go while still on the high of our wedding but later would have been fine too.
I think with work schedules and trying to get the best rate it is becoming more common for people to wait.

We’re getting married on a Thursday and leaving for our honeymoon on Saturday. Going to Turkey & Italy. We’ve had a long engagement and lots of time to coordinate work schedules

We took a minimoon nearby the weekend after our wedding. We are now combining our honeymoon with our babymoon which is technically 10 months or so from our wedding date. It’s nice because we were somewhat strapped for cash after the wedding. By waiting, we still get an awesome vacation but we’re not having to cut back on parts of it because of the wedding costs.

I went to Kauai right after my wedding which was really nice because we still had the initial excitement of being married, and Kauai was amazing.

We are going on our Honeymoon 6 wks after our Wedding. Partly becuase it will be a destination wedding for some guests so we did want to spend some time with them, partly becuase we needed to accrue some more annual leave, save some spending money & flight prcies were silly because of it being peak season. It works for us!
