Two weeks ago I got a UTI for the first time. Went to the doctors, she gave me some antibiotics and it went away. Now I have another one, and it hurts A LOT!
I can’t get to the doctors because they’re closed for the next couple of days (bank holidays). Is this something that I should get in touch with the emergency doctors about, or is that overkill? I’m in agony every time I wee, but I know I’m not going to keel over in the next few days, so should I just suck it up and wait for my doctors to open again?
Any doctor bees with some advice on how I can manage it for a little while?

I’m not a doctor but I have some personal experience with UTIs. For prevention, be sure to always empty your bladder before and after sex (oral sex also). I know it’s sometimes hard to plan the before part but emptying your bladder after is a must. 1000 mg of vitimen C and cranberry pills daily are helpful, as well. Your best bet for now is to head to the doctor ASAP to make sure it’s a bladder infection, so you can get an antibiotic if it is. I think there’s a pill OTC in the feminine hygeine section you can take for pain and irritation until you can get to your doc.

I would go to an urgent care doctor as soon as possible. You don’t want it to move up the urinary tract into the kidneys. I have taken AZO pills for the pain but it does not cure the infection. You should also talk to them since it is the second one you have had in a short period of time. It is possible the first round of antibiotics wasn’t strong enough to really kill it off.
Feel better soon!

I would probably go to Urgent Care or if you can call your doctor and someone is checking the messages, they might be able to phone in a perscription without seeing you since you had one so recently.
Did you change anything recently? Like start having sex with a new partner or start a new type of birth control? It’s weird to get another so soon if you finished the antibiotics.
I’d get AZO standard in the meantime to deal with the pain, but do not for one second think that the UTI went away when you start feeling better… that’s just the pain medicine working.

@greenidlady: I always force a wee out after sex, but never thought about doing it before – though I go to the toilet fairly often anyway. I’ll try the cranberry pills and see if they help, and add some juice onto mu shopping list!
@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: Thank you for the advice 🙂 I’ll give the emergency doctor a ring in the morning, and let them know I had one a couple of weeks ago, but that it’s come back.
@mrsSonthebeach: I haven’t changed anything, still just having sex with my Fiance (though we haven’t had any since my last UTI), and I don’t take any birth control. I’m hoping it’s just that the antibiotics didn’t fully kill it off, and it’s just flared up again.
