Sorry for the gross topic, but I am so darn frustrated. I am 5’4″ 130 lbs and I work out 3-4 days a week, but I still have the dreaded armpit fat. Does this problem plague any one else? Please tell me, does it really look bad in my dress??

Yes, I have this too, although I am heavier than you. I HATE it. How the heck do you get rid of that!?

its not necessarily “fat” its just the cut of the dress and the fact that some folks have boobs that sit wider than others. the cut of the dress helps alleviate this.
check out this great post from another bee and you will see what i mean:
Fix Armpit Fat and Back Fat with Dress Alterations, not Exercise

I agree that it is the fit of the dress. The thinnest girl in the world could have that. My dress was cut lower than that so I didn’t have that problem.
Another thing that helps is holding your shoulders back, plus it gives you good posture.

oh wow, just clicked through that link, spaganya…the cut of the dress makes a big difference.

I also suffer from armpit fat. It’s so weird, becuase I really don’t think it is related to your weight. I have seen plenty of heavier ladies who don’t have it. I am also a fit bee (5′ 7″, 130-135 lbs, similar workout schedule).
Trust me though, you look good, and no one will notice but you – we are our own worst critics! If you are really paranoid, you could cover your sholders with a shrug or shawl. Another trick (if you have time for the alterations) is to have the bust of the dress sit a bit higher on your chest (so that is is directly under the armpits). This squishes the fat down, and you don’t see anything.

I agree it is the cut of the dress, you should be able to fix this in alterations or changing the undergarments. I fixed my problem with that by getting a properly fitted bra.

omg! i have that problem too!! i workout a lot and have skinny arms but the armpit always folds 3 times!! ahhhhh! i wanna wear a strapless dress… =(
but i honestly think only ppl that have that problem notices and no one else seems to notice.. =)

You look great!
I’ve got it, too. I’ve lost 25 pounds in the last year and although everything around it shrank, the armpit fat stays the same (and now looks larger). Although I seem to obsess about it — it’s apparently not that obvious to others, especially when I improve my posture (shoulders back!).
@batzmaroo I found that some strapless dresses actually hide/minimize the appearance of armpit fat, so don’t dispair! I started my dress hunt saying absolutely no to strapless dresses for that reason and ended up in one with scalloped lace across the top that conveniently conceals it.

Your bra strap might be too small- it looks like you are being pulled in by something, rather than the fat actually being there, if you know what I mean. I would try a different bra.

I think every woman has that problem to some degree 🙂
A quick fix is to do a chest press, either with a machine or with free weights. It will tighten the muscles around there.
I’ve been working on that area myself, lol.

A friend of mine and I call them “cutlets.” lol. And yes, for me it is just that my skin has lost some of its elasticity there due to age. (sobs)
