We’re looking for a venue that’s got both great food and a whole lot of atmosphere on its own. I’m planning a NYC Nov wedding from my new apartment in San Francisco, so I’d like to keep things simple and work with a place that has a great caterer and doesn’t need much in the way of decorations, flowers, etc. I love the old leather-and-wood libraries and art deco mansion feel of Lotos Club and Explorers Club, but might need a slightly bigger venue. Anyone have any suggestions? 🙂

@reneejustrenee: Hi I went for the same idea for my wedding so hopefully I can help. We decided on NY Palace hotel. The reception rooms are all a part of the old Villard Mansion so beautiful architecture, wood paneling, marble etc – plus a michlelin starred restaurant! They have a lot of different rooms and sizes available. We also considered Del Posto and Eleven Madison Park – two restaurants that have an art deco feel to them and private dining space. A lot of the older hotels in NYC have very art-deco feel – we also looked at Hotel Giraffe, The Empire Hotel and the W Union Square.
