Hey ladies! Just checking in to see if there are any art history bees out there. I got my BA in 2007 and am now working on a masters in art history. If you studied art history, what are you doing now career-wise? Or what are your plans? Between undergrad and grad school I worked at a museum and I am interested in pursuing curatorial work after this degree as well.

I got my BA in art histroy and classical studies. When I started college I intended to persue becoming a curator, but honestly I got bored. After graduating I went into fashion and beauty pr instead.

I have my BA in art history and studio art in 2009. I did graudate school one semester in classics and hated it. Got my teaching assitant certification. I now work for specail education classroom. I started making soap about a year ago and now I sell online and at craft shows. I still love art and art history but I dont exactly use it in my everyday job. lol

I actually have a BFA in Sculpture, but I’m working in the art history realm, and would like to continue to do so. I actually just graduated in December and now I am interning at two galleries in NYC. I really like the work, but I’m not currently making money doing it. I’ve thought about a masters in either art history or arts administration, but that’s on hold for right now. I feel like I’m learning things at these internships for free that I may not even learn in graduate school. It makes me super nervous to be working for no pay… I can do it for a while, but I’m afraid I’ll do these internships for 6 months and then still not be able to get a gallery job. I personally just don’t have that much interest in working in a large museum because in a smaller gallery you get to do a little bit of everything. It’s just scary because there are so few jobs in it. I guess if I end up not being able to get one I can always go get a masters.

I’m not, but I know two girls who are. One is an art dealer, and the other wants to be an art history/humanities teacher.

I got my BA in fine arts (studio art/art history) in 2006. I’m currently working in a large musueum in one of the curatorial departments…but I’m not a curator. I am more like the coordinator.
I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. lol
