margot86 :  Thanks again, your enthusiasm is just what I need as I’ve had a super stressful last few months and it has totally sapped my creativity. Wish we could meet for a painting session!

For watercolours, I really do think the quality of your materials makes a big difference to the outcome. I recommend a very good/heavy paper and personally use Windsor & Newton paints, which are lovely.

Looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful creations!

margot86 :  Oh my goodness that water is incredible! I had to do a double take on my phone to see if it was a picture or a painting! Then after realizing it was a painting, studied to try to glean your technique as you can see the gentle waves of the ocean and feel like you are there. The realism of the orcas is awesome! I love your shark too, that is amazing! How long have you been painting for?

I am really new to painting. I never have really considered myself an “artist,” but I guess I am one? Lol

Very first (guided) painting, paint and wine event!

2nd paint and wine event, guided painting

This is my 3rd paint and sip event painting (sorry it is upside down)! It was a trivia night! Can anyone guess the T.V. show? (Hint: Our team name was the Poluticorns)

Last week I was inspired by the encouragement of the painting instructors to try painting at home.

My very first non-guided painting attempt on the top left (the two big boulders in front were supposed to be trees, but they were not so happy and more of a green blob), 2nd attempt at mountains on the bottom left (ran out of white paint so couldn’t finish), and the painting on the right is trying to practice happy trees, mountains, and just messing around with brushes. Nothing that great, but I feel like I am improving. I have been watching a lot of videos on different techniques. I was just painting off of memory for my practice paintings, so they could certainly be a LOT better!

All paintings are acrylic.

My goal is to eventually paint some of the Bob Ross paintings, and some different scenery scenes from various anime movies 🙂 I would love to try my hand at animals too, especially after seeing your beautiful whales!

magpie4426 :  Wowsers your watercolors are incredible! The detail on the plant in the front is so clean and precise, and the reflection is quite lovely! I love the deer painting on the bottom, you can see so much emotion in them. Like the first one looks like they are trecking through and tired.

I dont do as much as I should but here’s one of my pastel drawings from the summer. Youve all inspired me to make some more time to be creative!

I make fused glass and am hoping to start doing it as a business next year. I just love working with glass and seeing what happens when you melt it at different temperatures and seeing what shapes I can slump it into once it’s all melted together. Here are a few things I’ve done that I have pictures of. The wall mounted plates are about 14′ square.

I was the kid in grade school who would cry when the art teacher came into the classroom every week….my type A personality just could not understand how a straight A student could possibly be so horribly bad at something!!  Ha! Nothing has changed.

But….I LOVE looking at art and creativity and this thread has made me smile!  Thank you, everyone, for sharing your talents!!
