I haven’t planned a Destination Wedding.  But if you are getting married 9/24 (peak hurricane season) I would choose Aruba b/c it is outside the hurricane belt and it rarely ever rains there.  Of the 3 I would say Punta Cana is the cheapest.

We are planning our wedding to take place in Bermuda..we chose to have it there because it is easy to have a legal wedding and its GORGEOUS there!

We are working with a company that is planning our ceremony, but no reception.  We are getting to Bermuda via a cruise and plan to have a nice dinner after the cermony with everyone and party it up back on the ship. A little different than what you have in mind, but def. can be affordable

The company quoted us between 3-5k for the ceremony, including photography/videography/transportation/flowers/officiant/decor/and cake & champagne for up to 50 guests

The cruise would be the accomodations and all food and limited beverages (alcohol, softdrinks can be purchased a la carte or you can buy a plan to cover your booze/soda needs) are included in the price, the prices range from 800-1500per person depending on which type of room and how many people per room (up to 4).

We decided to go this route because it was the best economical option for us and our guests.

Happy Planning! Let me know if you need more info about Bermuda 🙂

I went to a Destination Wedding in Punta Cana at the beginning of last month.  It cost my husband and I about $2300 for five nights and airfare to stay at the Majestic Elegance hotel.

The wedding itself was beautiful, but a lot of the guests got sick while we were there, either from the ice (while they serve bottled water, the ice is apparently not purified) or the food.

I would try either Aruba or Bermuda.  I haven’t been to either one, but Miss Jenna’s info seems pretty good!

Do not go to Punta Cana! Yes, it is cheap but you don’t want the chance that you could get sick on your wedding. I went there for vacation and I was sick for two days.

I stayed at the Majestic Elegance too last December..its one of the newer resorts there..yes beautiful..but the food no, no, no…I would never go back to DR after that trip because of the food.  We resorted eating pringles for lunch one day and my fiance got very sick the last day..not good.

I have been to Aruba and Punta Cana but not for destination weddings. One of these days I want to try and go to bermuda. Based on my trips though, I would recommend Aruba. I absolutely LOVE aruba. I read somewhere that it has the highest amount of repeat travelers in the caribbean. It’s gorgeous there. The beaches are wonderful. Some areas look lunar! Punta Cana was nice but i would never go there again. We walked along the beach and saw security guards holding machine guns. I mean i guess it’s good to be safe in that way but it makes me wonder if something happened for them to be there. There really is not a lot to do in Punta cana either. Just my opionion though! And judging by the pictures, bermuda looks amazing!

We did a wedding at Excellence Punta  Cana a couple of years ago, and it went well. No one got sick. However, it seems that illness is much more common there than in other destinations.

Aruba is a great choice. You can drink the water straight out of the tap in Aruba with no side effects. The Renaissance Hotel offers an all inclusive plan, and has an adult only side and pool. Bucuti is amazing. If you didn’t want all inclusive, it’s a great option.

I went to a Destination Wedding in Punta Canta at the Majestic Elegance last year.  It was beautiful, the wedding was beautiful but there were a few guests who got sick, myself included (I think it was the ice too).  I haven’t been to Aruba but it would be the most expensive of the three.  I think the Bahamas would be a great choice.  There are always great deals for trips to the Bahamas and because its visited so often, travelling in and out is much more seamless.  In Punta Cana, it was a 45 min ride to the resort through some rather sketchy areas and leaving was a MAD HOUSE!!!  It took forever to check in, forever to get through security, forever for everything! In the 3 times I’ve been to the Bahamas, I’ve never had a bad experience, or gotten sick!
