For the next wedding in which I’m a Bridesmaid or Best Man:

Dress: $320

Alterations: TBD- $50?

Flight to her hometown: $350

Hotel for two nights: $250

Hair/Makeup: $100

Gift: $100

I’m skipping the engagement party/shower/bachelorette since I have the good excuse of living a 4-hour flight away, which saves me a lot of $.

llevinso:

Dress-$150

Alterations-$40

Boots-$75

Jacket-$40

Bridal shower-$130

Bachlorette party-$50

Total=$485

I didn’t buy them any gift because I literally planned their entire wedding. That was my gift to them.

Dress & Shoes – Free. It was part of what the MOB decided to pay for. If I had bought it, I’m sure it was somewhere between 100-200 dollars. Did my own hair and makeup, and didn’t wear jewelry.

Bridal Shower – $300, for some food, decorations and a present. I hosted at my home, and others helped by bringing food.

Bachelorette Party – $150 (hotel room for me + bride), $50 (dinner), $80 (cover charge/drinks), $30 (cab), $50 (breakfast) = $360

Wedding Present – $80

Total of about $750.

Only experience as a bridesmaid, and since I was in college with no job, I’m pretty glad nothing was made to be too expensive.

I was a Bridesmaid or Best Man in two weddings last year. For me it was:

Dress: ~$200

Alterations: ~$40

Shoes: N/A (we were allowed to use our own shoes for first wedding; we were gifted shoes for second wedding)

Hair/Makeup: First wedding paid for it. Second wedding I only had to get my hair done, which cost ~$30.

Hotel: I used points that I’ve earned from business trips

Flight: N/A – both were driving distance

Gift: $120

Total: ~$390

I missed the bachelorette weekend for the second wedding because the first wedding was that same weekend. My friend completely understood (she had 12 BMs, so it’s not like she was left hanging). The first wedding didn’t have a bachelorette party or bridal shower; we did do a mani but the bride’s Maid/Matron of Honor (sister) paid for everyone.

I guess the costs weren’t that bad? Certainly nothing like the $3K posted in recent threads!

Bachelorette party: $100 I think

Mani pedi: $60

jewelry: $0, it was a bridesmaid gift. I’ve worn it since too but unfortunately I’m allergic to the bracelet

Gifts: $200

I also made the cake but that wasn’t a bridesmaid duty. It was my Future Sister-In-Law wedding and she wanted me to so I did

Engagement Party – 0 (unless you can’t gas expenses to drive across the state–I’m not counting this) *ETA* Bride insisted on NO GIFTS.

Dress – $190 ($150 for the dress plus $40 for alterations)

Shoes – $50 (needed silver shoes, I didn’t own any–could have easily been free)

Makeup – 0 (we did our own)

Hair – 0 (bride paid for this)

Bridal Shower – $90 (gift only–MOH threw this herself)

Bachelorette Party – $400 (2 nights in a party town. I feel like I got away with a bargain. this was optional. Not all the BMs went.)

Mani-Pedi – $40 (this was optional)

Jewlery – 0 (bride gifted us earrings, the rest was whatever we wanted)

Gift – $100

Hotel – $450 (this was a killer on my budget. we didn’t have to stay in this particular hotel though, so I can’t blame her. so glad I did anyway. It was worth it)

$1320. Honestly, that’s less than I thought, although I didn’t include driving expenses, which probably adds another $100-$200 since I had  to travel for everything. I never complained though. The 2 biggest expenses could have easily been lowered significantly or even eliminated if I wanted. My bride was so considerate

ETA: oops! I’m a jerk. MOB ended up paying for our nails as a surprise. I mentally factored the money for nails in my head because I wanted to go with her, but it ended up being free! so my total was actually $1280

Maid/Matron of Honor recently.. Here’s my costs:

Dress: Free! Bride paid for it!

Shoes: $60 but its something I can always wear so no problem there.

Makeup & Hair: Free! Another Bridesmaid or Best Man did it for me 🙂

Necklace: Free! It was her gift to us although I did buy one for $10 as I wasn’t sure if she was giving us one

Nails: did it myself! I’m pretty sure there’s no close ups of my hands so didn’t need anything fancy

Bridal Shower: $95. Our bridal party did great with the budget!

Bachelorette: $1,000. We did a 4day trip to Costa Rica so it was kind of a vacation for all of us that we all really wanted! Out of the $1000, I’m guessing about $200 was towards the bride’s share (food, activities, drinks). We were lucky that her sister covered her flight & hotel. Plus we told her from the start we wouldn’t be able to cover all her share if she really wanted to go there, which she didn’t mind at all.

You gals are so generous, lol. I spent $350 for a dress/shoes to be in my sister’s wedding and they were something I’d never wear again. I thought that was outrageous.

I asked each of my gals to buy a $75 dress and wear their own shoes. No showers or parties, no hotel room, and I am giving them the option of paying a professional to do hair/makeup if they want to. I guess they’re getting off light.

So far I’ve spent:

$225 on Dress, including Alterations.

Projected Costs:

Shoes: $70

Mani/Pedi: $50 (optional)

Bachelorette (including two night stay): $250

Hair & Makeup paid for by bride (I think!)

So… I estimate right now $595. The dress we picked out is amazing, and I could wear it again no problems (if only I had something nice to wear it to!). And shoes, well of course I can wear my shoes again!
