I’m not a fan of lots of speeches, but I don’t mind a few that are short and sweet.

Meaningful & short…I really don’t want to hear any inside jokes or about the fun time you and the bride had in college on spring break ; )

I should have clicked ‘other’ – short, sweet, and to the point.. and don’t give the microphone to drunk 3rd cousin Mike to go on and on..

I like speeches as long as they are meaningful and kept fairly short in length!

Speeches are my favorite part of a wedding. However I agree with PP’s. Speeches should be to the point and meaningful.

I don’t mind speeches as long as they are short and sweet and kept to a minimum. If its open mic night for everyone who may want to share a funny story about the couple, then thats annoying but BM/MOH speeches are totally fine in my book.

Short and Sweet speeches… and only a few.  As a wedding guest, we don’t understand inside jokes and nothing is worse than not even being able to hear a long-winded speech maker.

I think speeches and toasts are meant for the rehearsal dinner. I also think that no matter who is in company inside jokes need to be left out. also you can never go wrong with short and simple!

Just a couple of speeches that are under 2 minutes. Any longer people begin to get annoyed/bored/zone out.

Definitely speeches! Speeches are an important way to add a bit more context and background to the wedding, especially if you’re a guest who doesn’t know the bride and groom that well. Through the speeches you get to know the couple and their closest relatives/friends a little bit better. So I’m a fan of speeches!

I’m not a fan, honestly. They tend to annoy me because all the speeches I’ve heard are too long and/or full of dumb inside jokes. As a guest, I’d be okay sitting through 10 minutes TOTAL of speeches, but after that, man, it’s pushing it.

I enjoy speeches, but only if they’re short, haha. And I like to listen to maybe 4 max.
