No clue what hipster is. Wear what you would to any other wedding. The theme has nothing to do with how the guests dress.

You’re gonna need either some really tight pants, or an entire outfit from an op-shop (some kind of ironic floral pattern), coupled with some terrible shoes worn with black, mid-calf socks. Also, if you can somehow come by a bicycle without gears (and a basket), a pug dog, and an overly serious sense of self-importance, you’ll be just fine.

You can trust me: I work in Darlinghurst…..

PS. make sure, your date has a moustache.

Watch 500 Days of Summer, it’s like the hipster formal wear survivor guide.

Is it mandatory to wear hipster gear in order to attend this wedding?

Like hipster formal or hipster casual?

Seems weird to have a skinny jean wedding.

Honestly- skinny jeans, oversized sunglasses/glasses with clear lenses, and whatever for the rest- I think the skinny jeans make it.

I bought a pair of skinny jeans and Fiance calls me a hipster regardless of what I wear them with.

Oh obviously my lack of coffee this morning is showing, I should have said “survival” not “survivor” ha!

@so_said_ellie: I hearts you.

OP, I am stealing this from a blog I read, but wear a camera around your neck and when someone asks you to take a picture, tell them “Oh it doesn’t work, it’s just an accessory”

Don’t forget your plastic sunglasses and mustache on a stick. Oh, and bring a disposable camera.

Ok, leaving the sarcastic and rude comments about hipsters alone (not one here, but derogatory comments about anyone is just rude).

Here is a link to the Wiki article about Hipsters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hipster_(contemporary_subculture)

And a picture to boot: http://www.google.com/imgres?q=hipster&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=2304&bih=1165&tbm=isch&tbnid=CksA4iL40Fn5CM:&imgrefurl=http://stmtz.blogspot.com/2011/01/hipster-evolution.html&docid=GGFa5nirIugZxM&imgurl=http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TS7uYLRLvWs/TUNidMuh1wI/AAAAAAAAAO8/V4ifrDwU3ZM/s1600/hipsters.jpg&w=468&h=417&ei=kI6lTpP0DZP54QTwtfnDBA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=309&vpy=189&dur=521&hovh=211&hovw=237&tx=190&ty=94&sig=109880464862067687163&page=1&tbnh=146&tbnw=160&start=0&ndsp=78&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0

I would say go for stylized skinny dress slacks or a skirt with tights. And loose fitting but nice shirt, with accessories. Flats or converse or something, but more than likely not heels.

If all else feels wrong, why don’t you call up the bride or FB her and ask what she is thinking in a hipster wedding. Her website might have something as well.

I would wear a cute dress with a cardigan, glasses instead of contacts if you have them, and a cute flower or bow in your hair.

I would go retro, find a 50’s party dress and a pair of studded converse, throw on a leather jacket. Just have fun with it and don’t care what others think– I think that’s the heart of being “hipster”.

Pretend that your economically disadvantaged and hit up the thrift store, even though you will be tweeting from your i-phone or i-pad about what you just scored. Your parents pay your bills and you go to a 40,000 dollar a year liberal arts school for something alternative like film or photography.

The tighter the better.

As a female, wear some old plaid mens shirt and either leggings or skinny jeans Wear some 80’s era loose bracelets and cut your hair with some fringe bangs or dye your hair an outrageous tone.
