Definitely the venue, and the overall tone that it sets for the event. I usually remember the cake as well, but likely because I’m an avid baker and notorious sweet tooth! 😛

I remember things like how the groom looked at the bride, tears of joy & details that make the guest comfortable.

As a guest, the only time I ever remembered the center pieces was when they came with photos of the bride and the groom as kids — super cute. 

Music and food — along with a good signature cocktail or two, are key. 

Some of the bad things I remember are when there is a noticable gap between the ceremony and the cocktail hour (I had one reception where we milled around for nothing to do for about 15 minutes — it was odd.)
