So originally I was going to do a 4×6 photo album with a couple sea shells on the cover with 20 pages. I am doing a photobooth that print out 4×6 photos so it would go with the favor. Now I found out the one I wanted the manufacturer discontinued so I have to come up with something new.
I would really like to get something my guests will like that isnt cheesy. I have found 2 options so far – one is 4 chocolate shells in an organza bag (http://www.favorideas.com/shopping/prod/KF188.htm) , the other is a teal (one of my wedding colors) stafish candle holder with 3 candles (http://www.favorwarehouse.com/favors/d1250.html)
If you were a guest, which one would you like best?

I like something I can take home. There is already food at your wedding…and I know everyone loves chocolate…but I always like something that I can have to remember…so I would have to say the starfish candle holder…its very beautiful too.

As a guest I’d prefer the chocolate shells because the starfish candle holder doesn’t match anything in my house and I’d probably give it away/throw it away/leave it behind/or sell it. 🙂
Don’t get me wrong – the candles are cute and creative but not something I’d have use for… chocolate on the other hand – who DOESN’T have use for chocolate. 😀

mmmm….. chocolate! My feeling is that most people don’t necessarily need another knick-knack, but chocolate never goes out of style!

Chocolate since I love it, and the starfish, esp teal, wouldn’t go with anything I own.

I think more people would eat the chocolate than would use the candles. But both are nice. 😉

Edibles are always a good choice.

i will eat and enjoy candy.
i will probably toss a starfish candle aside at some point.

I could NEVER pass up chocolate.

I say always go with edible. While cute, the candle holders aren’t going to be something everyone is going to want to use in their home decor, and most of them will either get left or thrown out. Everyone will enjoy chocolate.

Personally, I like the starfish, but I happen to love aqua colored glass – so I don’t know if others would feel the same way. I know most prefer edible favors, simply because other things (like the starfish) come down to personal style.
If you decide against the shells, how about M&Ms? They make tons of colors – you could easily order 2 or 3 various shades and put them in little baggies just like the shells are.
For example, http://www.astorline.com/images2/mm_color/large/pms_colors.jpg
The colors light blue, aqua green, blue, dark blue, and cream are very ‘beachy’. (The cream looks like sand).
Anyway, just a thought!

I’m big on consumable favors. No matter how cute something that you put out is, it’s unlikely to be to everyone’s taste. I feel like you know that chocolate will get used (eaten). Even if one guest doesn’t like it, another will 🙂

Thanks everyone for your opinion! We are going with the chocolate shells 🙂 I think I knew I should do that but just needed to hear it from everyone else. I talked to my Fiance and he agreed that originally we wanted to give something practical (the photo album people could actually use but got discontinued) but that we should give them something they can actually use (or eat!) rather than something that will be taken and thrown away a few months later.

It’s not a requirement to give your guests a gift. Maybe Moo cards (www.moo.com). You can have a bunch of your engagement photos printed on business card-sized paper/cardstock and can pass them out or place them at the tables for your guests. It’s a great keepsake for them.
